Why not to make a Druid in Classic WoW

Balance goes OOM and you will have to auto attack till you regain enough mana to cast again, or you will have to shadowmeld if night elf to drink some water to cast again.

Feral will lack attack power, only source of attack power will be from strength so you will need to squeeze it in with some strength necks rings & if lucky a 2hand strength mace.

That about sums up all the issues a druid would face.

I kinda hope they decide to integrate a few modern changes into the servers, such as hunters having focus instead of mana, agility giving attack power and other such modern things and or changes that are hardly noticeable.

I would not be half amazed if they decide to import the new models into the servers since its just a cosmetic option in the interface to appeal to newer players. I mean a nice example would be putting a updated Tauren along side its Vanilla wow counterpart, current day model looks more like the tauren in the first wow ad.

PS Please make Agility give attack power it would help balance the unbalance
Hybrid tax
Well if they keep it broken, just expect to heal when you raid and do all the other stuff before it like tanking dungeons as an option. I doubt they'll keep those specs worthless though.

Doesn't feral do ok if you powershift? Its alot of effort but a better result.

current day taurens look like cartoon characters, every facial expression is :) :D none actually look like how they should be.
Shadowmeld cannot be used in combat during Vanilla. Technically you can sustain as a Moonkin by downranking and using Major Mana + Demonic Runes on cooldown + stacking buffs. The issue is even with no mana problems, the dps just isn't there. With 40 good players, boss fights can literally last 15-30 seconds. Classes/Specs with dps cooldowns parse better.

Feral can actually do really well but you have to powershift, which requires an insane amount of consumables. Not only do you get the melee dps consumables but you also get caster consumables such as major mana, demonic runes, distilled wisdom flask, etc. It also depends on whether or not Blizzard makes +weapon damage effect cat form.

At the end of the day, if you go Druid you are typically only going to be wanted as a healer. Guilds might take a Feral druid to offtank + dps when not tanking but it's typically better to just bring another Fury Warrior, who can do the same thing.
Dear OP you're so uninformed its ridiculous. Running out of mana was common for all casters in Vanilla, proper management of resources is something you need to learn or you fail.

Feral cat builds required you get AGI gear, Bear tanks required you get the correct stats to avoid crushing blows, and enough armor to reduce incoming damage.

You're promoting lies based on the foolish dogma of the time, and these lies of yours unfortunately persist today.

HOWEVER, and this is big.. Getting gear for feral out of raid content was more challenging than getting gear for Restoration. But this did not eliminate that from happening, it only made it a little harder.

Same goes for Balance druids, it was a little harder to get leather + damage gear than it was to get leather + healing gear, but this did not eliminate balance druid builds.

Hybrid tax

LOL no, it was simply there were less options for gear out in the dungeon / raid content.

"hybrid classes" were fine in Vanilla, I played several of them, and more or less mained 3 classes with several alts, every class I played was quite good IF you did a little research and learned how things worked and managed your resources properly.

Um but feral gets no attack power from agility in that time span so? Of course you need strength for attack power.
As they said in vanilla when people QQ'd about this.

"They are meant to be a jack of all trades and master of none"
Im actually looking forward to playing a Druid. They're a perfect class because you can never get bored! Plus not many of them around when I played, so I'll take all the loot please.

i plan to make a tauren warrior as my main in the server for kicks as a offtime from live, after its lvl 60 will make a druid but yah druids are underpowdered int hat era and not even viable outside of x ablity.

I do hope they enable interface option of new model display since new model tauren look how they should look.

Well I played a DISC priest and was brought to raids because as one of my officers said "You just need to Power Infuse me so I top the meters". I actually just like the environment of raids and providing a benefit moreso than topping any meters. :)

Power Infusion was a BC abomination. It really has no place on a vanilla server...
I enjoyed playing druid in vanilla, but yeah they were the least played class for a reason. having said that I believe if they tried to make all the specs viable it would hurt the classic experience.
You're thinking in terms of deep and pure specs, vanilla didn't work like that, most of builds combined talents from two or tree pages and hybrids weren't about raw damage but combining their medium damage with support abilities which pure DPS classes didn't have. You had leader of the pack for the melee dps in your group, decurse, poison removal, combat ress, you could pop barkskin and go into bear for clutch offtanking or toss emergency heals when needed.

Feral has 1 STR > 2 AP conversion, just like warriors, and pretty much all feral leather is loaded with STR or raw AP, this isn't really any different from fury warrior itemization except that those pieces are more scarce, but also nowhere as contested.

Getting gear for that single core feral raider was easy because they had no competition, and feral leather generally wasn't wanted by rogues due to its stats, although a couple of pieces were amazing for fury warriors.

Hybrid feral build (combined with balance and restoration talents) was one of the top PvP builds with AQ40 gear available, it was high unkillable, had infinite mobility, a lot of utility and could deal respectable damage. Ironically enough, this was the payoff for being a core restoration druid in your guild, whatever feral/hybrid leather piece that dropped, usually was automatically looted to you or another interested druid, no other class wanted those pieces so there was no competition.
Druids were fine in Vanilla. I seriously hope they don't balance all specs based off of sustained DPS in a raid. There's more to the game than that.

It's super fun to have one class that can fill every role, regardless of if it's the best at any of those roles.

Don't believe the hate, peeps. Durid is for fite.
Nah man, if we are going to buff balance druids then you gotta buff all the other odd specs. The beauty of druids in the original game is that you had a massive amount of quality of life in the travel forms and the versatility to heal, tank, or dps. Druids were not a big part of classic 40 man raiding. But stop and think about how good life was for them outside of the big raids...the class could do quite a bit. Druids were the hybrid of all hybrids! Only the Paladin came close but not really since paladin dps was downright awful. Druids could feral tank, feral dps, resto heal. Paladins could prot tank, holy heal. Ret was really bad back then. Most classes could only cover one or two roles tops. So while paladins technically had a dps spec nobody considered it viable at the time making druids the most versatile class in vanilla. But you are correct saying balance was bad compared to mages and warlocks. Bear druid could not compete with warriors tanking either, and a feral druid wasn't quite as good melee dps as a rogue. Resto druid was a pretty solid healer though.

I would say the druid morphed into a super class by the time Wrath rolled around. It could do everything, and it was competitive in all categories (still had to spec properly for each role though to be on equal footing with pures).

Looks like you know a lot. The main reason I'll go to a classic server when they are up will be to get Atiesh, only legendary I don't have. What spec do you recommend me to play assuming balance/gameplay will be as it was during Naxx? I main resto druid since 2008. I'm guessing Atiesh was a dps legendary? Give me a tip about this if you can please :)

Not sure what the druid version is/was; the staff was different for each class it was available to (druid, priest, mage, warlock). I remember thinking the best was the mage version but that's all I remember about it...

What kind of rubbish is this?

They get 2 AP per 1 point of STR.
And when in CAT they get also 1 AP per point of AGI.

And just like every other melee get 1 point of attack power per point of "Attack Power" on an item.

Not sure what kind of disinformation you are trying here, but my memory is at least half way decent, and if I am even remotely wrong the internet will quickly and harshly correct me.

This is the information to the best of my memory, but dude.. come on, that "Feral does not get AP from AGI" is just pure weapons grade bullcrap.

No they weren't. They and paladins might be lowest on the rogue vanilla servers but the least played classes in vanilla were priests and warlocks.
