I clear the entire ICC before killing Arthas with all my 16 characters, it takes the whole day, and I’ve been doing this for a year already. I believe it would be fair to give players the opportunity to go straight to Arthas. Especially considering the fact that during the Timewalking event, players were given Invincible for running Ulduar. Why did some people get the mount for a one-time fun run of Ulduar where it doesn’t drop, while others like me are forced to endure such suffering considering its extremely rare drop rate? Give the option to go straight to Arthas, it will save time and make life easier.
I’m feeling nice so I’ll let you in on a secret…you can go to Arthas IF you do the prep work first.
Pick a toon and run the entire raid EXCEPT Arthas on it and then create a group in the LFG tool with a name only you will know and then log off that toon.
Next, login to the first alt and apply to your own group in LFG. Log out and back onto the main toon and approve the signup of your alt. Log out and back onto the alt and accept the invite and start flying to ICC. You’ll eventually get leader from your offline alt and so long as the main is inside, you can fly in and be in “their” instance with just Arthas waiting. and once inside the raid, you can either kick the main or just leave them offline in the party. Go kill Arthas and be Sadface McSad the mount didn’t drop again.
However, your main still has a cleared instance except for Arthas which they weren’t online for thus did not get credit for the kill and should be at the entrance or just outside. Either way, make a new group and rinse and repeat.
Yes the logging in and out gets tedious and is time consuming in itself…but the time savings is massive compared to just the RP and sheer running back and forth.
Are you suggesting I create and pay for a second account for this?
No. You can do all this with just 1 account. It’s what I did a while ago for my own Invincible hunt (among others).
No, it’s just a lot of tricky work with logging in and out.
Even if it’s possible to extend the raid lockout to other characters through such maneuvers, it would still be better if Blizzard made all of this possible without the need for such workarounds
Sure but you aren’t the first to have asked and it’s highly unlikely it will ever be changed at this point.
I’m just giving you a path to the best option you got. I won’t lose sleep if Blizzard does eventually give you your wish, but again, I wouldn’t count on it and as someone who used to do said raid on 36 toons (later raids I had 40+), short of them very recently otherwise breaking it and I’m not aware, it works and it saves A LOT of time.
Why? They finally gave a skip to Garrosh. No reason to think they wouldn’t eventually do the same for other raids.
I am grateful to you for the advice; previously, I thought that two accounts were needed for this.
Let’s believe in it!
Because they didn’t when they did SOO or all the other years they could’ve?
But they just did now. So asking for an old raid to get a skip isn’t out of the realm of possibility when we just got the SoO skip.
The pessimist in me thinks if it was on their radar, they could’ve done it along with SOO and anything else. Said pessimist also wouldn’t be surprised in the least if it WAS on their radar and the raid is being held together by old chewed gum and ratty shoelaces and doing something as simple as opening the portal to Arthas early breaks things somehow.
But hey, here’s to me being wrong even if I don’t have a dog in the fight anymore.
Or it’s just more work and a small side project that’s piecemeal.
Nothing wrong with continuing to ask and hope.
By the way, I have a question for you. How many weeks did it take you to get the mount when you were running 40+ characters per week?
I don’t remember to be honest. If I absolutely had to guess, I would say it was within 10 weeks of really trying that way (I’ve done plenty of singleton and other alt runs too). Possibly/probably less.
The thing is though it’s pretty trivial to get an alt leveled enough to the point they can solo that raid and evokers already start there.
A skip would be amazing.
would love a skip i want to farm invincible still but after building smourne 3x i dont ever want to have to clear out any more wings or trash it puts me to sleep. if i could be in and out in 3 mins for arthas that would be great
+1 for skip
Also why can’t all my toons take advantage of the skip to the end boss in BRF and HFC? I shouldn’t have to run all toons thru that place for a month to get the skip on them if I’ve completed the quests on one toon.
I always thought the low drop rate and having to take the time to run through the raid was the tradeoff for how trivial it is to do so. Punching Arthas one time is so perfunctory, if you’re going to port right to him why wouldn’t they just put a loot box (for Arthas loot) on a vendor in town that can only be bought once per week per character.
Instead of just thinking, you should try spending a whole day of your life once a week for a year just to end up with nothing. By the way, I like the idea with the chest.
