I run the 190 ilvl version and it seems fine for my focus, which is M+. I keep reading that Frenzied Monstrosity is the best for that area, which is fine, but I keep seeing shambler on the top of every single sim I run. It even beats out Deadliest Coil on single target sims… The zombie seems to connect far more often than not and the damage is generally a sizable portion of my damage profile when it lands.
What am I not getting?
How much damage is it doing?
I’ll get a M+ here now that there’s a reset and bring the numbers. It currently sims as 6% of my damage, though.
Edit - I am OP. Accidentally posted as the old warlock
Grab the parsing data to show that Reanimated Shambler is worth crafting.
The more data it shows, the better!
I run Skada as my damage meter - what tool do you recommend to gather this info?
Well since you have the legendary crafted… pretty much anything you do will be likely recorded.
You can never go wrong with WarcraftLogs.
As well as if you are willing to experiment with other legendaries (Do keep in mind this cost a lot of Soul Butts), you might want to sim it with Raidbots
Keeping a close eye on Skada, Recount and Details… While the first two are old schooled, I personally recommend Details to trace down your damage and identify its damage distribution.
Heading to a key right now, so we’ll see what DPS I can scrounge.
As for Raidbots, that’s sort of why I made this thread. Both Ask Mr. Robot and Raidbots is giving Shambler as the clear winner in most situations.

Barely procs to even mater
So here’s the DPS breakdown in total for a M+9 Necrotic Wake. We wiped a bunch, so I see that as just extra data
Skada: Skada: Riggs’s Damage for Total: 14:48 (54 Min 10 Sec):
Skada: [Epidemic] 1.04M (12.6%)
Skada: [Scourge Strike] 772.8K (9.4%)
Skada: [Bursting Sores] 645.0K (7.8%)
Skada: [Unholy Pact] 559.3K (6.8%)
Skada: [Festering Wound] 521.6K (6.3%)
Skada: [Virulent Plague] 486.7K (5.9%)
Skada: [Auto Attack] 481.1K (5.9%)
Skada: [Swarming Mist] 451.9K (5.5%)
Skada: [Necroblast] 432.0K (5.3%) <- Legendary Procs
Skada: [Auto Attack] 394.6K (4.8%)
Skada: [Festering Strike] 208.2K (2.5%)
Skada: [Death Coil] 205.7K (2.5%)
Skada: [Death and Decay] 147.0K (1.8%)
Any thoughts on how it stacks up against the other legendaries?

It’s not bad, it’s pretty middle of the road, but the issue lies in it’s randomness and average length between procs compared to knowing exactly when you’re getting value out of Frenzied. While I have seen two shamblers up at the same time, I’ve much more often seen it proc towards the end of a pack when it gets much less value against whatever mobs are remaining (as opposed to up front on with Frenzied), or possibly doesn’t even connect at all because everything dies.
I’m curious if you could provide your sims that are showing this, because this absolutely should not be the case based on all previous data. Going off just myself, there was ~160 DPS difference between these two effects, with minimal ilvl difference between the pieces I was swapping out to compare. That’s not a small difference to swing the other way.

I just posted this exact same question in another thread. I was even simming add cleaves and hectic add cleaves, where adds are up 60% and 40% of the time respectively, which should reduce the value of shambler.
However, the sims showed the exact opposite. The “shambler” legendary (or reanimation) for me is simming drastically higher than frenzied monstrosity in every AOE sim (up to +400 dps)
The only sim is wins for me in single target, and even then its only like a +40 dps gain which is negligible.
really shambler is that close to FM in ST dmg?
Currently running Raidbots sims again.
Deadliest Coil won hands down for single target when I sim against Patchwerk along with my normal ST talents (unholy blight, army of the dead, etc). The same Patchwerk sim also showed FM as 2nd place.
Hectic Add Cleave sim tells a different story. I removed DC since it’s single target only. The leggos are being simmed at 225 ilvl.
Shambler sims higher than FM by 2.2%

^ Raidbots for Hectic Add cleave. I forgot to capture the sim for single target, but those results weren’t surprising at all.

I’m inclined to believe that this is the explanation. Sim scripts may not be able to account for the pack being moved and just assumes that the raised zombie splashes on 100% of targets for every proc. But then again… the sims do say they account for movement.
Probably going to end up crafting the L3 FM since it’s reliable and better for raid content, but man this is odd.
Not that I necessarily think that Deadliest Coil is going to win by adding it to the cleave comparison, but I would not call it “single target only.” Dark Transformation is a strong cleave CD, and both extending it, and bringing it off CD faster do have direct cleave benefits (talented into Unholy Pact, etc.).

Fair point. If I could only craft one legendary and my focus were “raiding with an interest in M+,” then DC would be perfectly acceptable.
In terms of this discussion, though, DC sims as a DPS loss for my field of focus:

I think I’m going to go FM from here on and only end up kicking myself if I end up missing keys with ~2% of boss HP left
It’s a shame - I hate, hate, HATE the idea of leaving that much potential DPS on the table, but reliability is too big of a factor to ignore. I’d honestly love to see the shamber leggo introduce a button on a CD like a third trinket that would allow me to summon it at will rather than its current incarnation.
Shambler is terribad, don’t ever use it. It’s a sim bait.
Frenzied monstrocity is so much better in aoe, and deadliest coil is much better single target. If you can’t get deadliest coil, frenzied is also 2nd best for ST.
With how easy it is to get FM, there is no use in making shambler. And for the love that is all undead, MAKE FRENZIED MONSTROSITY WITH LEGS. 235 cloak doesnt even offer the stats 184 legs offer. Legs give nearly double the stats cloaks give.
