Why not offer class changing?

just a idea
since everything else can be purchased in store
$10 to change class
i could name a ton of things that this would help, but wanna get feedback from the community and the direction they believe it would take

This cuts into the level boost sale.

It would encourage an even less healthy amount of fotm-chasing, especially for things like RWF.

I dread an era where people literally class change mid-progression.

I understand the appeal of being able to change classes…but I personally don’t care for it.

If they do decide to add the ability to switch classes, it should be free. Charging for it would he ridiculous

A better alternative would be to just make everything account wide. (e.g. achievements, rep, gear, PVP ranking, etc…)

Any nerf to a class would be seen as a cash grab if class change was a thing.

Says they can name a “ton of things this could help”

Doesn’t elaborate.

Asks for feedback.

Strong start.

i am not here to give my opinion or perspective, so no need to elaborate.
you play a MMORPG use that brain noodle/imagination on the path it would take

I love this idea after playing both swtor and final fantasy. We all know final fantasy at this point, but swtor now gives people the ability to choose a second class for your character - there is a restriction though which is Jedi classes and only choose a second Jedi class and non Jedi can only choose non Jedi.

You get more attached to your characters when doing this and it also makes it so reputations are tied to you which feels good. This is definitely wow should add in and I bet it would bring a lot of people back to the game.

Then why post looking for feedback?

Why post at all?

Participate in your thread. Otherwise keep your thoughts in your noodle.

look here ol ye wise owl, move on to another thread
iv’e seen that alligator mouth bumping at the gums in countless threads.
that means you are labeled now, you get that right?

Sadly I foresee class changes as something of the future.

I’m not a fan myself but it would feel nice to be more attached to a specific character. I only dread the loss of class identity. So many people will have a single class at max level with the best gear ZM can throw at them.

Hey everyone…we’re gonna nerf DK’s and super buff warriors.

Everyone switches to warriors

Hey so we decided the buffs to warriors are too much. We’re gonna nerf them and buff DK’s

Everyone switches back to DK.

So yeah we’re gonna nerf DK’s to the ground and show some love to warriors again.

Accounting spreadsheets go brrrrrrrrrr

this could without a doubt could work in the favor, of casual/hardcore gamer’s
will indeed cutback on so much grinding/gated content

A terrible idea. Just from a technical side alone this would break half the game. Even faction swapping requires personal babysitting from a GM to make sure it goes right.

For RPG integrity it would also be awful. It’d destroy character identity just as much as the clowns that want everything account-wide so they can play this game like a choose-your-role fps.

I don’t think you understand how forums work.

This would be so freaken funny.

Already is. It cost $60 to change to a class you don’t have leveled, and chasing FOTM is a huge thing. They let boomy ride as the far and away only S tier raid DPS spec for all of 9.1 and it magically went to 20% popularity by the end of the patch. Wonder why that happened!

They could always just remove more barriers from multi-classing.

  • Skipping campaign quests for legendary belt (for some reason you can only skip to chapter 3).
  • Account wide reps
  • More currency exchanges between toons w/o a penalty necessarily (I guess it sort of depends)
  • account wide renown … it isn’t even character-wide (swap convenants)

They have tried doing some of this stuff but to varying degrees of effectiveness.

It doesn’t just cut into, a boost is effectively a class change. It is currently valid to rename your current character then boost up another using the old name but a different class.

I just made a new alt to max in 22h /played…

I get it. I have sentimental value to my first ever created toon, but she’s a troll mage. I dont think that combo is too fitting anymore, I’d rather have her be a shaman. But alas, it can’t be done. There’s a recent thread in CS about this topic. It is just too complicated of a feature to add as a lot of things are linked to class.
