Yeah, I feel you there. Not all classes and talent trees are created equal.
I feared those days back in cata when Shaman was mandatory due to that mana restoring CD. Every raid group would place 2-3 shamans instead of any other healer.
Just imagine if Shaman had the defensive toolkit of holy paladin as well be nothing but Shaman healers.
I feel that is really part of the problem.
When defensives are normalized, that feels boring and bland.
When they aren’t, then you have a really uneven playing field with a domino effect. Do mechanics ramp up their damage to compensate for most specs being able to defensive through it…which leaves some specs behind. Or do mechanics get balanced for those that can’t, making it trivial for specs that can defensive through it?
Like, as a resto shaman I put my earth shield on the BM hunter in groups.

Meh, you dont have to delete it. We are having discussions. Its fine. I just dont really see a healer specific issue that needs to be addressed in such a way.
Moving all utility to healing would make healing a lot more off putting.
At this point, I think Blizz just needs to have 1 dev per class rather then 1 dev working on several classes.
That would be the dream, but I dont see it happening. Even when they had class reviews in vanilla they couldnt do it right.
But seriously. I want the dev that works on MW monks.

I think having 1 per class may make it worse. You need perspectives from multiple classes and their strengths and weaknesses.
I’ve been biased for MW monk since MoP even when they haven’t been perceived as strong, but ever since the rework in DF season 1 I feel MW design has been really strong, maybe too strong in some areas.
This makes me nauseous lol. When I play my priest I fear on cd, and stun on cd, and before the holy fire rework interaction. I specifically love playing my monk because I have 15second kick, a leg sweep a rop, and I use paralysis as an extra kick as well. If youre gonna play and expect your DPS and tanks to use this stuff, you should lead from the front. I go full gigachad when I heal.
I think due to MW’s playstyle, people wont generally play it at all unless its super strong. Borderline OP. And I think someone at Blizz really wanted people to play MW.

Of course, it’s a matter of changing the healer toolkit to be less focused on healing and more focused on damage and utility.
well, I don’t think that’s bad, I like to have a lot of utility for my group, while also offering healing

I’d prefer there to be more healing checks when I play my healer. Let me flex my healing. The 3rd boss in HOI was fun for that.
I still dps and cc and dispel and such of course, but when I play a healer I want to heal, not make it where I’m playing a psuedo dps.
Lol, as much as I like this idea, being a DPS with only DPS abilities, is gonna feel weird as heck.
Every class has utilities and we’re used to having them.
Also, being a healer and doing world content with only healing and utility, is gonna suck.
Healers kinda need their own DPS, too. For solo content anyway.
Add more support specs, increase group size to 6, create a separate role for support as the 6th slot, have faster queue times because now each tank is bringing 5 people instead of 4 and eliminate the balance nightmare of support being a dps slot.
I’m still of the mind that we wouldn’t even be having this discussion if they didn’t uproot the entire trinity by making tanks so self sufficient. But that deed is done, they can’t make tanks less fun to try and make healing less crap.
That said, I do like utility dps specs. Significantly more fun to me than just being “big number pumper”. I like fiddling my gameplay to make other’s people’s numbers go up.
