Why not just WoW 2?

Serious question Blizz… The appearance changes and customization is great and long overdue, but now (some) people want the other issues addressed as well.

Wouldn’t alot of these changes and the flood of new requests be addressed in an updated WoW sequel?

I feel all the time and effort spent on Classic and SL could have been better spent on a complete revamp and new game.

(some) People want updated textures, new continents not islands… (some) People want updated Druid forms, updated Shaman totems, a real class balance not just unpruning.

I think this version of WoW has had its fill of patches and band aids… Time for a new ride.

My 2 copper…

It would be a lot of resources to work on a whole new mmo.

Not to mention, almost all part 2’s of mmos die.

Save for FF14 but that is more of a re-release.

We’re playing WoW 8 right now. Personally, I liked WoW 5 the most.

WoW2 was TBC.

WoW3 was WotLK

WoW4 was Cata

WoW5 was MoP

WoW6 was WoD

WoW7 was Legion

WoW8 is WoD 2.0

Shadowlands will be WoW9.

Honestly I’d probably enjoy a new game that ditched the open world and was just a lobby for dungeon crawls. Vermintide and Phantasy Star Online 2 do this but they’re action games without tab targeting or healers.

Ask Everquest 2 why not WoW 2.

New MMOs are very expensive to produce and a very risky venture in today’s environment.

WoW continues to make quite a bit of money I’m guessing. Why would you risk it on a WoW2?

I think EQ2 did fairly well considering. I would cite EQ Next as the real downfall and collapse.

The only way that would work would be if you carry the whole game to a new engine and let everyone keep everything they currently have. I say this because starting over is generally a daunting task for a lot of people, to the point there’s a high risk of said people just quitting or not moving to the new game.

Trying to convince someone to leave behind all their mounts, mogs, achievements and other things they’ve accumulated over the years is a very hard sell. And I say that as someone who would like to see actual armor models instead of gear detail that’s painted on a flat surface.

If they were going to make another MMO, why WoW 2? They have two other huge IPs that people want MMOs from.

Personally I’d way rather play a Starcraft game. I like the worlds, the races, the characters, the general plot way more in Starcraft. Forget rogues, I want a dark templar.

I’d also rather spelunk my way through hell in a Diablo MMO. Warcraft is their weakest IP in my opinion. (I think sales figures completely shatter my opinion though.)

I think that they would lose a lot of subscribers (unless they let you keep everything, in which case, just make another expansion, no?), mostly the ones who stay because of the sunk cost. I’m having a lot of fun, but I know a few people who probably would quit if they lost their mounts, characters, and mogs.

They said it’s not fiscally viable right now.
Legion would’ve been the best place to begin a WoW 2, regardless.

Just go play Everquest if you dont like WoW.

probably can’t afford the risk cost of another data center to host the whole slew of realm servers for a sequel MMO

I feel like a StarCraft MMO would be really tricky to make. Having to design whole worlds from the get go and how they would handle interstellar travel.

I feel like a Diablo MMO would not only be easier to make but I think it would be really popular  … but Diablo is already a very popular co-op experience and I don’t think they’d expend the additional resources making it a full fledged MMO for very little audience gain :frowning:

I don’t want to start again, I love my characters. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’d rather ask Guild Wars 2 why its still popular and much better than the original…

I think bfa started 2.0. What we have now doesnt represent anything about the orginal game.

You really want them to destroy the game? Yeah, this wouldn’t work out well.

Well for me a wow 2 would have to be a completely different game, I mean the problem with retail wow for me is that everything you do in one expansion becomes irrelevant in the next expansion, I want a situation where the cool things you do carry over into the new expansion

Blizzard wouldn’t have the time, approval or resources to make an entirely new mmorpg.

Besides would you trust these clowns with a new WoW after what we got with Corruptions? Just be flushing money away.
