Why not give evoker ranged auto attack?

Just saying, it could somehow justify the short range 25y. Like they are casters, so they’d suck with bows and guns, thus they must be in closer range.
I think it would make sense?

I just hate the point where you have no hover and can’t move/ cast while also being short range

What would this actually accomplish

yeahhh I agree here… It needs something to make sense of the 25y… I dont mind we have a unique range, but it is extremely annoying we dont have that filler in-between movement and casting.

You have azure strike.

I know this, I am refering to an auto attack. Something to happen in between cast. If we were 40y I dont think it would matter all that much, then again even hunters get an auto attack and casters got wands if thats available

but casters don’t use wands to shoot and druids have nothing

maybe not anymore and I suppose your correct with Balance druids… But I still feel something should be added since we get the weird range of 25y

We have hover.

Considering we are a caster class with not as many instant casts as i’d like, i think a ranged autoattack would be fairly useless.

Blizzard should just let evokers cast on the move 100% of the time. Either turn hover into a toggle, or just make cast-on-move passive and let hover be for movement only.

Yes 100% agree.
Can we hope for it for TWW?

Otherwise, would that hurt anything to have some extra damage through auto attack from 25y?
Why can only melees and hunters have auto attack from the range they are fighting? Never understood it

We already have a kit designed around our range.

If they added this, for whatever ungodly reason, we would just have the damage siphoned into it from elsewhere. It would change literally nothing.

I am truly baffled that people come to the conclusion that the devs designed our class as if it had a 40 yard range and then arbitrarily knocked 10-15 yards off. The class is designed and balanced around the limited range, and in Dragonflight they have committed to encounter design that is considerate of it as well. Doesn’t mean they nailed every aspect of everything perfectly, but the class is already compensated for its range with its holistic design in the same way that melee are “compensated” for their range and ranged are “dinged” for theirs.

The class doesn’t face any issue that can’t be dealt with while working within its core design.

An auto attack would do literally nothing considering we are always casting…

We’d just lose damage from our spells for it, why would we want that?
