Why not give EverQuest or EQ 2 a shot?

Some of you are trying FF14 and are disappointed. Try EQ or EQ2…your expectations will be low and will be met in terms of graphics. EQ is 22 years old. The world is way more vast than WoW. EQ has 27 expansions. EQ2 has 17 expansions, and it released like a month before WoW. Both are FTP with limitations. If you want player housing and a cool dungeon maker feature, try EQ2. If you want a challenge, try EQ.

Give it a shot.

Been “trying” it for a long while now.

Lol nope.

Gonna buy it for me?

Telling me this makes me think the game is garbage. Thank you for the raving review. Good day.

Actually I played EQ1 for four years from the launch and then EQ2 and WOW were announced around the same time. EQ2 came out about two or three months before WOW launched (not counting beta which I did not get invited to), so I decide to play EQ2 with my brother and it was a decent game, but then I saw my friend playing in the WOW beta and there were so many quality of life improvements in WOW, so I switched to WOW when it launched and never went back to EQ2.

EQ2 is a decent looking game, not sure what it is like now since I have not played in over a decade.

When I quit WoW during MoP I actually played EQ2 for a while and honestly if they had better graphics and kept up with the game I would have stuck with it even more.
I enjoyed it considerably more then the two times I’ve attempted FF14.

But WoW is still the best out of all of them. Can’t wait for a real WoW killer.

Me telling you that the expectations will be low is because it is a 22 year old game. How high would your expectations be? Also, why would I buy you a FTP game? Also, my message is for those who have tried FF14 and do not like it. I did say, “some” of you, not “all” of you.

Here, let’s take another look at what I said and use Five Guys and fast food:

Some of you are trying Five Guys and are disappointed. Try McDonald’s or Burger King…your expectations will be low and will be met in terms of taste. McDonald’s tastes ok. The menu is way more vast than In-n-Out. McDonald’s has all kinds of things on their menu. BK has a lot too, and there is one next to In-n-Out. Both are resonably-priced with limitations. If you want a Whopper and a cold shake, try MK. If you want a Big Mac and shake, try McDonald’s.

Your responses would be like…

I’ve been eating Five Guys for a while now. I am not disappointed. Are you going to buy me a Big Mac and Whopper? You telling me this makes me think they are garbage. Thanks for the raving review. Good day.

Well, your response was “raving” I can tell you that.

I would have tried Everquest Next, if it didn’t destroy itself before it was released.

The graphics hurt my eyes. I know Minecraft is a good game btw.

For MMo It doesn’t work, I don’t want to role play as pixels of canyon.

EQ is a good game lot of die hard people play it…
The graphics are dated… But honestly 14.99 lets you play

EQ
EQ2
Planet side 2
And DC universe

So not a bad deal

They got playable vampires

I have gone back to EQ for a few of the TLP servers. Had a LOT of fun through the first expansion, but I couldnt keep up with many of the other players as I worked and most of my guild were retired or on disability (playing 20 hours a day)

Hated EQ2 since the day it launched - its why I came to WoW.

jesus dude, a bit harsh

the guy was just saying you might like something and it is totally free to check out

then BLAM you harshed him

be nice and have a happy friday!

It was almost unplayable on my PC at the time. WoW worked fine, which is why I switched. I did go back, and I played a lot when the dungeon maker feature was added.

I played a bit of Everquest 1 a couple years ago. I’m gonna be completely honest, if they did a remaster with EQ1 and re-released it with updated graphics and some tweaks to the UI, I’d probably lose my life to that game.

Its like Runescape combined with WoW, with every D&D element imaginable thrown in. Its a real RPG, where stats and abilities matter and there are consequences for how you build your character. Classes do different things, races have different relations with one another, and a lot of enemies out in the world can tear you a new one if you dont bring friends. The grind is huge, but rewarding. The story and setting are great too.

Well, considering we are all still playing a game that is 17 years old, quite high actually. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I still play Tropico, Warcraft 3 and AOE 2 every once in awhile because for me they are great games. Age doesn’t matter.

Played EQ for over 10 years, most of them as a hard-core raider 5 to 6 days a week and about 4-5 hours was our raid schedule. I stopped playing on the live servers in 2012 and I can tell you that outside of the raid game, there really isn’t much of anything to do.

My old guild still has me listed under Friends and Family htps://eq.magelo.com/profile/1883839 (add the t to make it https)

With WoW, I never really raid. I have done M+ but nothing that requires my undivided attention for 4 hours, give or take bathroom breaks. I enjoy mount farming, and doing the solo things, like quests, and up until this expansion World Quests, they were worth the time. WoW is a better all around game for any type of player.

The only thing I don’t like about WoW is the combat mechanics, way too many things going on with encounters let alone trying to DPS. I always tell my old EQ players, the WoW combat mechanics are like playing a piano but pushing it through 10 lanes of traffic, and avoiding pot holes while not missing a key.

Going from WoW to EverQuest would not be fun.

Played it for 5 years before playing wow. Enjoyed it, but not 17 years later
