Why not both?

So as I prepare for another tedious rep grind to unlock KT, I’m wondering why cant we have world quests AND rep tabards. I used to love tanking dungeons just to grind rep that way in cata. I know the big complaint was people felt they had no choice but to run old dungeons etc. But if we had both I think it could be a good alternative to just repeatable world quests over and over .

With the WQ rep treadmill it allows for devs to sit back and watch the MAUs just go up and up.

I would think there has to be a deeper reason for not having them anymore.

Expecting communication from Blizz regarding design decisions - how naive.

Because tabards are silly, and always were.

The Tortollans weren’t going to give me the time of day, but because I dress up with a turtle shell on my chest when I go to attack Boralus, they’re all gung ho on me, now?

You’re not allowed to earn reputation doing the content you enjoy OP.

To stretch the content even longer.

So that’s my point really. We should be able to do the content we enjoy . Not just what the devs want us to do. I think that’s where we’ve lost touch with wow. You used to have choices and now it’s all a straight chasm.

The design direction has always been to put the best rewards behind the newest systems, to funnel people into them. It’s why losing 5 arena games in burning crusade gave raid-quality weapons (which is where the term “welfare gear” first started being used). It’s why Island Expeditions are the best way to farm azerite. It’s why World Quests in Legion gave such a variety of stuff. It’s why Scenarios in Mists were the best way to cap valor.

You think you do ??but you don’t - Blizzard 101

Yep, they dictate the terms and expect us to just blindly like the direction the game is headed.

I miss valor points and scenarios were pretty fun too.

I miss classes that were not crippled by GCD and pruned for the sake of “class fantasy”.

Man don’t even get me started with how great PvP gearing was back then too. Having a currency to spend on your really good item for PvE? gtfo man, that wouldn’t even dare exist today. RNG is all you need, man.

My guess is… the classes became too dependent on artifact weapons etc. Then they didn’t think it through enough and had to rush to come up with ideas so pruning was the best they had. Some specs feel ok with less buttons some feel dramatically worse.

Tbh rep from tabarts are not my cup of tea, but the way how they have left normal and heroic dungeons without any purpose in this expansion is just depressing.

They are bad for gearing, bad for farming azerite, slow to get exp, awful to farm transmog, and rarely gives you enough gold to pay for your repair bills. There is not incentive outside of the occasional WQ that usually is a waste of time.

Im ok with gear being “random” as far as drops etc but I don’t like the current gearing system where everyone looks the same and all the gear is basically the same. But titanforging and sockets etc are killing people’s will to grind it out.

That’s because they hand out gear like candy and everybody outgears Normal/Heroic in hours.

This is true. Dungeons in wotlk were relevant and ran for badges etc. it was fun and grindy but didn’t mind the grind because I always met new people etc. now it’s like playing with faceless npcs in every dungeon and they feel pointless .

They really should have allowed for tabards and then lowered the rep given by wq’s etc to give you guys the illusion of making it go quicker. That’s really where they went wrong, would have been the same time investment and less whining.
