Imagine that I start out as Body 1 but then decide to be Body 2 after some time , I can change that in the barber shop but my name from Body 1 cannot be changed. Isn’t that ridiculous ?

All I can recommend is going forward. How about you choose more gender-neutral names. Then you will not need a name change at all.

I am sure they would rather the free service not be used for people to suddenly ditched a tainted name. Not to mention you would have to accept that you could very well lose the previous name in the process.

Not really imo. I’d rather other important stuff be perfected. Sorry, I’m really not trying to diminish your ideas.
Ya I think it is kinda silly. But they gotta make their 12 CAD or whatever it is from it 
I’m guessing they don’t want people changing names often for their own reason.
So why not monetize the option lol

its bait. They know going from male to female many names arent going to go along well…so you get a $10 bill for a name change. lol
A name change doesnt cost them any more than a sex change does

Yeah, it’d be cool if you could assign a name to each body type.
I think it’s more that it might mess with addons and configuration in general to be able to constantly flick it back and forth, whereas sex just swaps titles. Old games. Swapping names while logged in could create a spaghetti tornado, etc.

The change is done in the system. No one is working overtime for name change.
Again…its bait…they know you wanted the gender change and most will want a name change to go along with it. Easy $10

Well, yeah, obviously it swaps the models, but it’s not like it’ll randomly break addons like names could.
Nah. I doubt many people get name changes, and they didn’t even have to let people swap sex in the barber shop in the first place.
The game would probably crap itself if people had the freedom to change their names on the fly every time they changed their body type. Remember, even changing your name for $10 requires your character to go through the same processing as when you change your race and/or faction, so there would be several problems if the servers couldn’t keep up with what name you’re identifying as right now.
Just use a unisex name that would work for both?

No because even changing your name, IRL is a separate process. If it must be for free, we should be able to do so at some form of city hall, in the game. For that “RP” flare. I don’t like the idea of it being at the barbershop.

I mean maybe I’m wrong here, but I don’t think Blizzard calling the gender options 1 and 2 is them implying the words “male” and “female” no longer exist. I KNOW you just put that in there to start a fight or something, but can we just…

As someone who regularly swaps names around, there is more code tied to your name than most people are probably aware of. Your forum profile is tied to your name and not that character you’re posting on. For example this name was on my mage, and I deleted that mage to use the name on this paladin. This paladin isn’t a month old and has a post history that dates a long ways back.
Now the game code and forum code are different animals, but if that is how they worked it here then there’s probably a lot more similar interactions in the game (beyond your settings which do become saved via names over character IDs).

No not really , it’s something which has bothered me for a while . I had a female iron dwarf which I then made male but I couldn’t change the name without paying real money for it . Really annoyed me .
