Why no WoD intro skip for the Garrison Hearthstone

Each time I make an alt - first thing first I go to Chromie to activate Legion. Go over to the friendly NPC which offers an intro skip then teleport right to new Dalaran. I talk to the quest turn in, pick up the Darlarn Hearthstone, then zoom back to Chromie to start WoD’s long intro to get the Garrison Hearthstone.

Sure, the Garrison Hearthstone is rather sporadic in how useful it is (admittedly it is less useful than the Dalaran Hearthstone). But when it is useful, it is useful.

Curious as to why there is a intro Skip for Legion to get the Dalaran Hearthstone, but not for WoD to get the Garrison Hearthstone.

Because the Dalaran hearth is just a hearth to an existing city and the Garrison needs to be built and phased to get a hearth.

They’re turning into toys next patch. Unsure how this will function for alts that haven’t unlocked that expansion/built their Garrison, though.

Fun fact: You can skip the WoD intro quests. Just drop the breadcrumb quest and walk through the portal.

I haven’t seen anything about this. What’s turning into toys? The Dalaran hearthstone?

The idea is that players should not be going to old zones when there is current content per Blizz design so the old hearths are now going to be toys but not take you there just give some interesting animations.

Key fact. And don’t stop and talk to Khadgar either.
I have also been able to take the portal to Ashran then fly into the cove in Shadowmoon Valley where the ship lands and pick up the quest to get started as well.

I found a wowhead post about it, and it looks like they will continue to work just as they do now, even with separate CDs still. They just won’t occupy bag slots anymore.

Do you ever stop spouting misinformation? Or is that your “thing” around here to seem edgy?

You’re doing it wrong.

This so much. But you don’t even have to do that. Your lowbie can either be summoned to a nearby dungeon and flown to the location of the first quest, or can get there on their own from Ashran, using a fishing raft. Alliance can pull right up on the shore, while Horde characters will need help getting past Gorgrond to the landing site.

Fon’t forget the underwater cave near the turtles grind on the isle. Even horde can use that.

A low level will not be able to get to the site of the garrison without help from the cave in the waters off the Timeless Isle. But then, they probably needed help to get to the cave anyway. And last time I checked, the portal requires a high level to go back if you’ve changed your mind.

They have really changed. I made a mechagnome army I parked in Dalaran. They level squished and now are level 10. When I log into them to play with toys in dalaran the game tries to get me to port to SW.

So the writing is on the wall as far as using old content to play free. Blizz is going to force them out of dalaran.

Characters that have not been played lately get that popup. I think they are trying to get people to play their lowbies and level them up. You did log in to a character you haven’t played lately, right?

More than once I logged into a character someplace it no longer needed to be and was glad to get a port to the capital city, which was where I wanted to be anyway.

Yep. I just checked my level 15 hunter mechagnome, he was in SW for some reason but still retained his hearthpoint back to Dalaran.

It seems like a ton of EXP in that opening scenario ,though. Doesnt seem (to me) to take too long either.

I did that scenario so many times during WoD and Legion. There’s no way I’d ever do it again, given an alternative.

Another issue with doing the scenario is that Blasted Lands is a level 15 zone, so even if the scenario mobs are either killable or easy to skip, going off the road is likely to aggro level 15 creatures that are red to you at level 10.

Nice, since it will get these out of my bags.

Minor inconvenience, because now I have to build an action bar for all the hearth toys. Find a place to put it on the screen, hide it, and remember where I put it to mouse over it.

I get it, MC. I could be wrong, but the xp per hour seems to be higher than the alternatives… but yeah, if you are burned out on it it might not be worth it.

I’m going to test getting a garrison on this character. I need to know.

I have made dozens of Garrisons. Never wanted a skip! I love the music tracks to it, really sets the tone. I personally think it was well done and should stay. :slightly_smiling_face:
