Underwater combat is clunky in WoW and will continue to be unless there are major changes made to its engine and/or new abilities are added to help us fight more effectively in that environment. Stopping at giving us swim speed and underwater breathing as they did in Nazjatar is not enough.
Because to move through water is too much like flying and Blizzard hates that anyone might be having fun, even vicariously.

Vashjāir was actually good considering how bad underwater zones tend to be. For what it was, I thought it was good. Not fantastic by any stretch, and it had its problems (some of the underwater combat stuff) but aesthetically the zone was good - the introduction quests were great, the underwater mount was cool. Aesthetically the zone was unique.
Edit: Just to add to this, I donāt know how you can say the SL zones are not unique? Bastion is a completely unique zone, nothing else like it compares in the game (no, the warrior order hall doesnāt count and btw itās still completely different) Revendreth is also entirely unique with nothing else like it in the gameā¦maybe parts of the Worgen zones but still aesthetically the approach is different and more like something out of Bloodborne.
You could potentially make an argument for the other zones but they still have a unique flavour to them.
(looks right into a non-existent camera like itās the office)
⦠Did Sunday come early?
Underwater combat isnāt fun and Vashjāir was an iffy zone at best. Do I miss that zone, no.
Fixed that for you
Vashjāir is the only zone Iāve ever started questing in just to nope out and go somewhere else twenty minutes in, and Iāve never gone back. Sometimes I even forget it exists (I wish it didnāt).
I DIDNāT KNOW THAT
Have you ever been to Desolace?

Have you ever been to Desolace?
Cata Desolace isnāt as bad as ORIGINAL Desolace.

Have you ever been to Desolace?
Yes, though itās been a long time so I donāt remember much about it. Donāt have any negative feelings about that zone.
In a all underwater expac, no one would need flyingā¦think about it.

or have a phobia of deep water.
Vasjir+ inky black potion + raft on the surface, terrifying.

Shadowlands zones look so stereotypical generic and boring snoozfest.
Iāve heard the Venthyr area as āstraight up Yharnam, from Bloodborneā
If thatās true, 10/10 best expansion.
Underwater zones, yet to see one made well.
I loved Vashjāir. Blizz dropped the ball with Nazjatar. Could have been a vast underwater empire but ended up being a pothole because crybabies didnāt want to swim. I swear, Blizz caves on the stupidest stuff but doubles down on their crappy classes and rent-a-systems.
*can we get Ghostcrawler back?

If it had a capital city and werent spread apart by quest hubs and faction separation, itād be the unanimous favorite zone in the game.
Sunday was yesterday.
Never understood why these zones have to be one type of environment or the other.
There is no water needed in the after life. In Hell there is only fire and you canāt cry in Heaven no tears allowed.
If I had to guess why thereās no underwater zone is that weāre not actually on a planet, and last I checked, outside of asthetic for the Night Fae, the dead has no need for water.
