I just don’t get. I tried retail wow and honestly, hated, the tutorial is extremely handholded, fells like your character is a soulless clone of everyone else however, really loved classic after tried and brought a boost to lv 70 for wotlk and one month of sub fee. This is the first mmo which I sub in my life and pay for a booster. Yes, I liked WotLK this much.
Classic/wotlk has extremely less size than retail which means that an guy who tries and don’t like costs even less “bandwidth”
IMO the ideal classic/wotlk :
Races : Only Humans and Undeads *¹
Classes : Only Warlocks and Warriors *²
Level : Till 20
Zones : Only starting zones eg - Ewyin Forest, Redridge mountains and Westfall
IF the player subs after lv 20, he gets a free race and class change or can create a new lv 20 char
No auction hosue, dungeon finder and so on
Note 1 : This are the most popular races,
Note 2 : WLK is the most well designed dark caster which I saw in any mmo and warrior is very popular
Probably Blizzard don’t put trial cuz they believe that only people with “nostalgia” play it… IMO classic/wotlk has potential to attract new players
I don’t think there’s a point to a free trial. You’re not spending anything to play WoTLK. It’s free to play as long as you have an active subscription…which might I add, allows you to play both versions of the game. You may not like retail, but you can play 1-60 with just a subscription. HOWEVER, unlike WoTLK, retail you need a sub fee AND to buy the current expansion. It makes sense that retail offers a trial and WoTLK does not.
You may have paid to buy a boost to 70, but you didn’t have to. You could have simply leveled a character for free up to level 20, and if u liked the character, then bought the boost. That IS your free trial. lol
In true WotLK fashion, should have a free week with some basic limitations. No trading, AH, guild, or mail. No messaging or grouping with people who don’t have you on their friends list. And a level 60/1k gold cap. With all of it unlocking, obviously, with a paid sub.
