Why no RP Stress Test Realm?

I know we already not getting a RP-PVP realm at launch so I won’t even bother asking for a test realm of that…

But why don’t we have an RP Stress Test Realm and RP Beta Test Realm?

It’s really immersion breaking to play with non-rpers. Kind of like a whole different game that I don’t particularly want to play. sticks nose up

Because the test is literally to stress test the servers.

meant for testing stability of server not progressing you character.

RPers have their own ways of stressing the servers. I just think it’s shortsighted not to test a massive system like layering on that group of players. With BFA we saw Warmode introduction, and even Blizzard admitted it wasn’t tested thoroughly enough with the rp servers. But after it was tossed into the game it was too late. They had to go work on other issues to steer BFA in a tighter course.

RPers are fanatic gamers, as dedicated as any min/maxers, and more so than raiders I’d say since they want to stick around more than just after progression on current content ends. It’s shortsighted not to test massive game CHANGES on them. And I personally want more rpers interested in Azeroth than in other games.

Also, with a full beta RP server, Blizzard could see what it takes to provide the extra services a rp server requires. They also could find staff to work with rpers to help make sure changes to addons allow for at least as immersive an experience they had in Vanilla. Classic RP Beta could also have been a time to look at new tech to make rping in Azeroth a more rewarding experience comparable to other games on the market. (We are testing new tech right now with layering, so don’t say Classic Beta isn’t an opportunity to test new tech for future Blizzard projects as well.)

You make a good case, but in the end it is very unlikely. However, I have seen a lot of people say that they will be rolling on an RP server, maybe to try it out but mostly for the community. Currently, if you wish to RP on the beta server, make a guild for it and invite like-minded people. Have fun with them and make something out of it for launch. Same thing for the stress test. It may lead to a discord server or something.

We already know layering is garbage in it’s current state. I mean watch anyone who’s playing the beta right now and you’ll quite often see a mob they are currently fighting faze out of existence because of it.

I don’t really understand what do you meant by “RPers have their own ways of stressing the servers”. Stress test is a term on software development which indicates put high loading on server and check how the server response.

And currently WOW team is inviting a massive number of players to server to check the performance.

Id say these servers hold up pretty well from all the content I have seen in videos and streams.

Not sure what’s up with retail servers. Get more than 30 people in one area it starts crashing and burning. With Classic seems you can have half the server in one place and it hold up fairly well before crashing.

This is who they give beta to…

I swear RP fanatics come up with the most bizarre requests.

In 8.0 when it goes live WOW team handled it pretty well, I’m on a large population realm and at first serious lagging occurred, however, the problem is solved within half day (no issue after that), I think this is acceptable.

There is still a chance to get an RP-PVP realm, at least for the larger regions. Here is the thread that has been going on for quite some time now. Feel free to add your support: #RP-PVP Realms, Reconsider One Realm - #928 by Cybaster-cenarion-circle

On topic: Stress tests aren’t for playing the game per se. You want everyone on the same server if possible to push the limits of what that server can handle, so less is more in this case. Plus RP realms don’t have any technical differences to test, it’s just a different rule-set for player behavior attached to a PvE(normal) or PvP realm.

Is this topic for real? Like, do you actually think there’s a difference between an RP server and any other server? There isn’t… they are technically the same, save for flagging the server with an (RP) identifier.

Stress tests are meant to push a single server to its limits and test the layering tech. It is not meant to “play the game.”

Once they have a stable server version, they’ll simply copy it to multiple realms and rename them. Running more than one stress test would be a moronic choice on Blizzards part. The player in me says, “Yeah, force more invites, I want to test too!” But the developer in me says, “I know how this stuff works and at least they’re doing it right.”

A stress test isn’t for RPing, or even bug testing. That’s what the regular beta is for. A stress test is just to break the login server and the realm over and over. To test login issues and load.

Anything outside the scope of what beta and stress testing are meant to do would be counterproductive…

As a roleplayer, stop.

If you need a specific type of server to test your RP, I can already tell you that it needs work. Regardless, that is on the players, not Blizzard.

Are you going to expect Blizzard to enforce RP server rules on this RP stress test server that’s only up for a day? What a ridiculous question.

No they don’t.

OP, you’re trying too hard. The thread is lame and not funny. Better luck next time.

Why is the test realm PvP only? There should be no PvP involved at all.

RPers need to know the capacity and server limits in a single small area like Goldshire Inn. Too many people “emoting” there could crash the servers. /sarcasm
