Obviously, there is a problem starting WoW stuck on retrieving character list. Why hasn’t Blizzard posted something saying they are working on it?

Yes, players and community members have repeatedly noted that Blizzard developers have stated intentions to be more communicative, only for the lack of communication to continue or even worsen over time.
Sorry, but this is what many of us pay for.

The launcher has a message they are investigating.
Sssshhhh! They wanna whine and cry rather than read the message. I think they expect that any issue the game encounters warrants a dev personally calling them to explain it to them.

They did there is a banner on the BN screen, of course it still is talking about slow logins, so they may not know what’s wrong, or decided their customers don’t need to know. I just renewed my annual subscription, so throwing a rage and quitting isn’t a real option; Is Guild Wars any fun?
