I do not talk/chat while in the game simply because I’m not a multitasker… I’m in the world for one reason and one reason only.
People are conditioned to that because so much of the game is solo. That being said I do say thank you after a raid or run. If I see a nice mog on someone I will /s or /w them to let them know. Keep engaging with people to create the atmosphere you prefer.
Good luck my friend.
Generally speaking most people won’t say hello, but most people will say gg or tyfg at the end of a run from my experience.
Most ppl don’t talk bc its either nothing but smack talk, or ppl can get silenced for literally anything with reports, even if they didn’t do it.
I really only speak when spoken to, if its just a regular hello after joining the party, i will immediately think you’re trash because pro’s don’t say anything
Do pro’s pug a lot?
I usually say hello when joining a group as well as wishing everyone a good day when i leave said group. I like interacting with people but no i’m not about to discuss the latest meta shift in gen 1 pokemon ou with someone i grouped up with for a +2 atal dazar. I’ve seen a bit of this in classic where i’m just trying to vibe and someone demands i join their group for a quest and gets annoyed when i reject. Like heck i play classic to just turn on podcasts or lofi hip hop beats to chill to.
I can’t type while I’m tanking.
lol they just announced that we now have “follower dungeons” basically dungeons with bots. yeah i really dont get who they’re catering to but whatever. again i dont understand these nutjobs that play an mmo and dont want to talk to people. this new mechanic just dumbs down the already garbage social aspect of the game.
It’s been like that for many years. I started WoW in 2012 and the first few dungeons i ran i tried chatting with “hi!”. I quickly learned people almost never talk in dungeons.
- If it’s nothing then no action will be taken against them.
- If someone is getting silenced (that sticks after being reviewed by a ingame moderator) then they need to learn to watch what they say rather than feel like they can say whatever they want with no repercussions for what they say.
Not if you are a decent human being and for the record there is no auto punish system.
ALL the social contract is is things you agreed to to play WoW in the first place in 2005. You had no problems with it then but you do now? lol
Not if you are a decent human being. I have NEVER been reported in game.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s when people were more innocent and just discovering the internet; it’s a lot different now than it was back then. People can be unkind because they know they can get away with it, and that discourages others from speaking up and engaging in casual conversation because they think its a waste of time and not genuine. It’s sad but that’s just how it is now.
Developers seem to want to portray a certain social system in many games not just wow, but I’m not buying any of it. I’m not interested in befriending everyone I play with. I’m in a guild, I show up at a specific time, hop on Discord for the callouts, and play – that’s it. I’m not looking to make friends; I already have a wife and kid, and I don’t need anything more. At this point I say, Just make everything anonymous and be done with it, you’ll likely get people to speak up more, not even kidding when saying this.
No one talks to each other, because there isnt any downtime…at all.
.
No one needs to eat or drink (except healers in a GOGOGOGO mythic+) so when exact;y do you expect people to have the time to type?
This is no longer a MMORPG
Its now a ARPG
Also society as a whole has become well… a cesspool, of course depending on which side you stand on, depends on what they call you. Either you’re a big mean bigot for not caring about someone else feelings or you are a snowflake that only cares about feelings and not reality and facts.
So yeah expecting much more than that from a now ARPG is well silly in 2024.
the social contract makes communication be in Discord only.
they can’t ban you there.
Actually I don’t really greet people unless its a formal setting
Moonguard is super friendly!
Society has changed.
Wow has changed, although it was really interesting to see how hardcore classic really developed a community because of the way you need to group up and rely on others. It was about as close to the vanilla experience as you could get as far as community goes.
Retail wow just doesnt encourage organic friendships and you rarely run into the same people unless you deliberately try. In Mythic plus, theres just no downtime to talk. You’re going full speed from start to finish.
Its still there, hidden away in discords, and a few select guilds, and rp servers like Moonguard. But its definitely not the same as it once was.
Come on over to classic/sod. Very social here
