One of my all time favorite games is Never Winter nights. The original. it had an excellent multi class system and even custom races that you could name yourself. But the absolute best part of the game in my opinion was the character biography page where you could write a short story detailing your character’s life. It brought the RPG functionality to a new level. When joining an RP server, You could inspect a player and see the biography and already know relevant details making it easy to jump right into an RPG conversation with them and set off on an adventure. I am shocked WoW never implemented something similar.
Excuse me if you already know this but there have been several addons for stuff like this, and the vast majority of the rp community uses at least one.
I didn’t know that. Thanks for the heads up. I just think it should be baseline. part of the game. Blizzard is lazy.
Total RP is the one most frequently used, and it’s pretty great!
I wish barebones character profiles were built in with the game, actually.
Others have mentioned the addons, so I don’t need to say nothn, but I understand your desire OP! a bio section would let you do what you want; and for content focused folks, it could function as their personal classified ad!
Development costs money. The amount of money that Blizzard will spend for a feature that 90+ percent of the playerbase has no use for… is not much.
I’m with a lot of people here, Im all for in-game character bio. I ADORE the stuff they had in Star Wars: The Old Republic. They even had a “family tree” you can make of your characters, showing their relationships with one another and how they are connected.
Tbh the first MMO that leans into this kinda stuff I will be all over.
I never thought of it that way as I was focused on the RP aspect of it but that would just create even more value out of having it.
You might want to try out Lord of the Rings Online then. It’s gameplay suffers compared to WOW, but it’s graphics are gorgeous and the game is full of the kind of stuff you’re asking for.
