Having it be somewhat of a challenge was so refreshing instead of the constant 2 shot kills
It wasn’t really a challenge. Just an exercise in attrition. The mechanics were the same the entire time. They just dragged on and on.
He wouldn’t need a nerf if it was more obvious you were supposed to follow him into the phase and DPS him in there.
On average I see less than 20% of the raid going in.
I thought it was obvious you were supposed to follow him in. I just couldn’t find a way to. Either things were bugged when I did it or the portals aren’t obvious enough. I honestly don’t know which
I didn’t know that. I fought him way before I got the cloak. Good to know for the future though.
That’s what I mean, there’s these unstable pink things that look a lot like the bad swirlies you have to stand in to temporarily phase shift during the fight.
It doesn’t need nerfs it’s needs design work, but instead they’ll just nerf a good boss and basically relegate it to the trash heap.
I want to see a video of you two-shotting the world boss.
Yes because as amusing as it is seeing literally 80%+ of a random raid group wipe to the first big AOE and a solid half of those decide to just be lazy anchors and stay dead while maybe 5 of us are putting out numbers that matter and wasting almost 10 minutes on a glorified HP sponge for those of us not left of bell curves is sure engaging content.
I don’t even know what the nerf is…but he absolutely was due for one and hopefully it is massively increasing the cooldown of his phased retreat and cutting his HP in half. They can keep the bad geared insta death AOE wipe if they want.
If it worked, because it wasn’t working for everyone.
So the world boss was taking almost 20 minutes to kill.
I heard there was a portal … good luck seeing that in the mess that is 40 players letting off spell effects every GCD.
I for one did not see any portal. It clearly wasn’t very visible.
I wouldn’t even describe it as a portal, it’s more like a pink circle with a pink light coming out of it.
And it’s the exact same color as the swirlies.

My group one shot it but there was like 10 really geared players carrying the rest of us on their poor backs.

Having actual mechanics in a world boss fight sounds cool in theory, but there aren’t a whole lot of mechanics you can actually do with 40 players and zero coordination.
Yeah it’s super fun to have 1/2 to 1/3 of your raid dead just waiting for the 10 geared folks to kill the raid boss and have it take 5-7 minutes.
If I ever die in an RPG I just unsub personally. Means they made the game too hard.
The fight is too long to be enjoyable for a world boss, imho.
The parts where he phases out, flies a short distance, you fight adds while you can’t attack him for like a full 1-2 minutes.
And then he does that like 4-5 times.
It’s easily a 10-minute long fight, if not longer.
It wouldn’t be so bad if there weren’t intervals where you couldn’t hit him, and were just waiting for him to phase back in.
Gives the feeling the fight is extended for no real reason.
This is provided the portals actually spawn. Having done the fight twice now I’ve seen one portal and it spawned in when he wasn’t retreating and despawned before it could be used.
This boss is a tad buggy too.
I don’t know if it’s intended. But I can’t target some of the adds. It always say “obscured”. Eventually I gave up and just spam AoE.
Mirror Images and the water elemental also has trouble targeting the boss. They just stand around doing nothing half the time.
That happened to me when I went into the nearby cave, I’m not sure if it’s specific to the boss. I had to relog to get rid of it.
