Right now Avengers Shield is still a very good ability to have but it is a nerf when considering how Druids in cat form are abusing the Sunfire Rune right now, there is no way to close the gap on a druid or get away if they are spamming Sunfire. 10% more mana regen from Seal of the Martyr is trash if you cant even seal twist with Seal of Command anyway especially after nerfing it from being able to cleave. I mean they even nerfed Rets in Vanilla classic by gutting reckoning when rets are at their worst and i think its safe to say they wont undo that change.
It takes around 11-16 Sunfires to kill someone in cat form and the cost is 40 energy and the ability is 30 yards. If you dont have a gap closer or if they stay at 30 yards to only spam Sunfire you will have no chance to get to them to do any dmg but if you did get to them you would be close to death to only be able to disengage easily with their powerful mobility/toolkit and if you try to run away you will lose. Also if you try to heal you will not be able to sustain it as you will be using mana and they will be using energy to chip away at you.
Blizz needs to make it so avengers shield is something you cannot shift out of, nerf Sunfire in someway to where they cant abuse it like Druids in cat form do (lower range and add a cooldown?), or give paladins a tool to be able to deal with it. Some are saying Avengers Shield was bugged/broken and that it needed a fix which i can accept but a 10 sec slow isnt nearly as broken/OP than a Druid in cat form spamming one ranged ability with an unlimited resource until you die. A melee unit like a druid cat should have to be in melee to be effective instead of spamming sunfire, it takes no skill and doesnt match the design of what cat form is or should be. Even when Avengers Shields slow was better you could still counter it, but with this Sunfire abuse there is no counter.
Id like Blizz to not be on the trend where Rets are getting nerfed just because people are crying that they have a unique tool that helps round them out from being one of the worst classes that everyone loves to hate. I think the changes are fair and not being able to trinket it wasnt good but at the same time its a direct nerf when you have to face a druid abusing the Sunfire rune. I dont think a melee unit should be able to sit at 30 yards and be able to spam one ability to get a cheap kill at no risk, its not good design or good gameplay. People will try to take this as me thinking i should be able to win every fight which isnt true.

The idea of ranged classes winning and being unkillable 100% of the time against paladins is so delusional. Feral Druid in cat form, the most iconic ranged unit in WOW classic.

Personally I think avengers shield swap to shield only for the skill use then back to 2h needs to be nerfed
Give it a cooldown when changing to shield before you can use.
2h Rets don’t need to be runing this ability because it’s clearly meant for shield oriented play

Not true, its a daze so it makes sense. This is just a buff to Druids because being a FC or spamming sunfire on a target that cant counter without gap closers wasnt easy enough. Whats bs is Feral cat/bear having a 30 yard ranged ability with no CD.

Bro listen. Avengers shield used to be DEEP prot in the talent tree. They need to take this ability from ret 2h players by eliminating the ability to use the skill during a quick shield swap. This ability is too powerful to be used this way. 1h shield ONLY
This skill is not intended for 2h ret play and blizzard needs to change this oversight

I am fully on board with Avenger’s Shield being treated as a slow and thus removable by effects that remove slows.

Also thanks for the buff to Seal of Martydom too. Divine Storm still feels better though but I could be wrong?

It was fine the way it was because it was a rune that keeps you from getting Rebuke or Inspiration Exemplar and the only way to ever get to a druid abusing Sunfire in cat form. Its just so weird how youre against Paladins having a tool they desperately needed (a gap closer) but youre completely for Feral Druid Cat/Bear form having a 30 yard Sunfire with no CD that can not be countered. You act like a druid has no other tools to get away once dazed, also unable to to see that sunfire is actually so broken for feral forms.
