WHY must new players level in bfa content?

So, as a returning player, I (too) was “forced” (to a particular questline) to do BFA stuff. But, there’s actually a certain point in the questline, you can turn around and start using Chromie Time.

Alliance: After you break through the prison, in Kul’Tiras and take the boat to the main city, there. You can turn around and boat back to SW.

Horde: After landing in the Zandalar Troll area, you can turn in and turn around and boat back to Durotar.

One thing I don’t like is being kicked out of the Newcomer Chat upon hitting level 50. I may be level 50, but I certainly don’t know everything about the game. IK there’s steps to take to get back into Newcomer Chat but as a Guide. I wish Newcomer Chat was an option even for “veteran players”. We just won’t have the “Guide” symbol, next to our names. Reserve that for those that committed themselves to doing the proper steps.

I don’t mind BFA but rewards suck in zones and in dungeons.

Besides for new players doing Freehold or Tol Dagor as their first dungeon at lvl 10+ is a bit harsh experience compared to RFC. Seriously.

And good luck killing King K’tal solo. There are no groups around either and nobody responds in /1 thanks to the failed sharding and phasing server tech.

So BFA zones absolutely needs new reward structure and monster tuning in Dragonflight.

It’s changed since I’ve tried it first

I turned mine off because very few legitimately needed help, a few trolled, and was overwhelmingly populated by non English speakers (of which I have no problem) but I only know English/Spanish.

They need a friendly country oriented chat. Or place them in NA, Asia, European chats, etc. And again, I am language lover, but I’m getting Chinese, Greek, Korean, and Russian in my guide chat. I would love to help them but I cannot.

It feels like one giant pot of “new” players with no consideration of region. It needs subcategories. Additionally, legitimate new players have often been met with ridicule for asking questions.

If I were a new player, I’d be turned off by a lot of bad behaviors from the community. This is more concerning than the starting zone.

There’s no game if there’s no welcoming community. If people were nice, I’d dare say even a Shadowlands introduction would work

BFA leveling is a lot better than Shadowlands leveling.

they only changed it because new players were complaining that the old experience was so bad…

BfA is one of the worst expansions of all time right down there with cataclysm. It’s a terrible first impression of the game.

New and returning players are strongly guided towards BFA content, but they can level pretty much anywhere. The first quests that are automatically given to them send them to BFA but they can pick up other quests at the mission board. I am leveling in WoD right now, I was leveling in Legion earlier.

At least in Dragonflight, we will be able to fly in BFA without the Pathfinder requirement.

I don’t know how it was when it was current content, and I don’t know about Horde side, but the leveling quest experience in BFA is actually quite nice in my opinion. The only downside for me is that you cannot fly there. The scenery is lovely, though. I really like the ambience of Boralus, even though it’s now a dead zone.

In all honesty, I think they are doing that because BfA is kind of the start of the current story arc. If you are going to give a brand new player some sense of what’s going on, that’s the better place to start them off.

Depending on how Dragonflight goes and where it takes us in the aftermath, I can see them switching it then.

Relax. Eat a moon pie. Have a 7-up. It’s not that serious

It was awful. The worst expansion since cata. Worse than Shadowlands and WoD.

It sounds like blizzard put all the effort into the Alliance experience and very little into the horde experience.

Nzoth would like a word with you…

You guys live in a bubble.

My old man recently played Exile’s Reach for the first time and did a bit of leveling in Zandalar, and also replayed Elywnn Forest and Westfall for the first time in 18 or however many years its been, and he much preferred the Retail experience.

This idea that people want “player freedom” is nonsense. People just want a good, clean, streamlined experience that has some class fantasy and introduces them to aspects of the game world.

Did you know of N’zoth during the leveling process of BfA?

It feels very much like that. Boralus/Kul Tiras feels like a bittersweet homecoming filled with interesting stories.

The intro and questing in Zulduzar didn’t captivate as well. The city was a no flying labyrinth with elevators and WQs were generic almost like a giant Ungoro.

Then I got to Drustvar and eventually did some WM skirmishes near Boralus, and was impressed by the design. I’d rather do Alliance alts in BFA any day.

I think new players should be forced to level through BC and when Wotlk classic comes out, Wotlk. That way they can see how the game used to be.

I guess it is good you aren’t the decider.

I read your post as suggesting there was no big bad in that expansion, which would be incorrect.

My son and I just ran into this. He does not have a level 50 and we wanted to quest in Pandaria. You just have to grab the starting quest the old fashioned way. It’s kinda silly that you can’t use Chromie but still can grab the quest, oh well it is a new system and Blizzard is far from perfect.

Different people want different things. And some people want both. Some people just want it all!

Yeah I was referring to the first 2 content Patches.
If you didn’t do the nazjatar raid you wouldn’t have known.
