WHY must new players level in bfa content?

Technically you can quest level in other places you just cant queue for the dungeons

The boat still runs to northrend or you can run out to westfall

Not that it matters but

I doubt brand new players would even know about chronic time anyways.

It’s not that big of a deal in the end

That is cruel.

I don’t know why they don’t force them into legion instead, it’s way more fun and a better introduction to the series.

THAT might actually make things better

Is it? All quests give strange grey items
 With no use at all.

Also you only have one weapon during the whole of Legion.

Yes, it is.

When I got back into WoW it was before Shadowlands came out, and I hadn’t played either BFA or Legion. I almost canceled my sub and quit the game because I hated BFA so much. It’s absolutely terrible. When I got to level an alt I tried Legion, and Legion is leagues above BFA in story, questing, everything. Making people play BFA is actually counter-productive if you want to build a player base. Legion, however, is amazing.

The only thing people are going to get out of BFA is “Wow, the writing in this game is REALLY bad.” I couldn’t stop noticing and complaining about it when I was playing through it. But, then again, maybe that’s a better representation of modern WoW after all.

You don’t have to / aren’t forced to stay in bfa. I tested this.

It forces you to bfa content yes but you just do that intro part up until the ports open to org or sw That’s it. Take a port level away in your faction lowbie zones.

You are in bfa content for less than 45 minutes if that.

They don’t have to.

Create a class trial - play thru the little intro, then go to your capital city - (don’t buy it, just try the trial) - after that, ALL CHARACTERS on your account - new or old - have Chromie time unlocked.

I’m brand new and heard of this run around, and did it right away so
i could level my character & alts in all the different xpacs!

Funny part is two even if you have a bunch of high lvl characters you still can’t pick a quest line to do besides bfa, in my experimenting I found the only expansion’s story youre allowed to.do is dreanor which is even more bs

As soon as you get your BfA portal room open, you can go back to your capital city and pick a different expansion. I had no problem doing this on my first character on this new account.

can you queue for other x pacs dungeons?

1: please don’t revive threads that have been dead for 2 years, they are almost guaranteed to be out-dated.

2: you can pick any expansion by talking to chromie in SW or Org, once you complete exiles reach even on a 1st character.

Yes, if you set your chromie time to that expansion for leveling.

if you are a new player? because that’s the point.

if you can’t use chromie time until level 50 then you can quest anywhere but it seems you would only have BFA dungeons in LFD.

I have no idea because I’m not a new player

you unlock chromie time at level 10. It used to require you to get a character to level 50 or 60 to unlock it for alts, but this requirement was removed last summer, hence why this thread should have stayed dead, reviving it is creating confusion by referencing a mechanic that got removed almost a year ago.

thank you, that was helpful.

Wait, is this why my lowbie 50s are being forced to do BFA instances? There is no Shadowlands queue available and once they hit 60 DF shows up. Really confused because I already had another server with 13 horde 70s on it. Doing my alliance characters now and I’m just confused why I was never given SL instance option.

Below 60 (50 in SL), you will only be able to queue for your chromie time setting. It’s been that way since the leveling changes in SL pre-patch.

I never selected anything. Assumed that meant it would do whatever you would normally be eligible for. :woman_shrugging:
