Why must Incursions be on a timer?

It’s now 11am my time and the Tirigarde incursion just went off. Why are these taking place while people are at school and work? If they were Warmode only I could see setting a time limit on them. This would allow for a concentration of people doing the quests each day and encourage PVP. But they are not WM only. There is no reason not to leave them on from reset to reset (24 hours) to allow everyone the opportunity to participate, or at the very least have them in the evenings when the most players would have the opportunity to participate.

It seems as if Blizzard learned nothing from Legion where the Legion Assaults were never available when people needed to do them. Just pick a zone, turn it on for a day, and then choose another zone the following day. There is no reason to shut them off on a timer, especially in the morning, when there is, by far, the least amount of traffic in game.

I’d rather get on knowing there is an assault waiting to go do than play the guessing game of when it will be and will I have time at that moment to do it.

Just 'cause.

Not everyone plays at the same time.

It would be nice if these happened more often during peak game time though.

Or just leave them on for the day. Then everyone could play. No reason for turning them off at all.

They aren’t at the same fixed times every day. There are people…though not nearly as many as those who work a standard 9-5-ish day…who have other hours who would like to participate too, y’know. It will shortly rotate back to a time period where you can participate again.

It seems as if Blizzard learned nothing from Legion where the Legion Assaults were never available when people needed to do them.

An exaggerated, hyperbolic lie that adds nothing to the conversation.

To me it seems that the Incursions schedule is functioning pretty much the way the Legion invasions schedule functioned. I think perhaps the Incursions come more frequently. But now, as in Legion, they are not always timed to align conveniently with everyone’s free time. You should not expect to hit every incursion every time one pops up.

I like that a piece of gear now drops for max level characters! I miss the free BoA tokens we used to get occasionally as drops from invasions. Gearing alts for 120 just got a little tougher, but so what? I also like the xp buff you get on your alt for completing the incursion, AND it’s easier to complete the final quest of an incursion as a leveling alt than those final scenarios were in Legion.

Then it wouldn’t be a mad rush to do them which makes for huge PvP battles. Which is more fun.

Because it keeps you logging back in.

Still no one gives a reason why they can’t just stay on.

There is a reason. It disrupts the zone. It adds in twice as many mobs in places while people are trying to quest or do other world quests in the area. Not as bad as Legion invasions did, but they can’t be up consistently and you can’t keep getting consistently free gear or extra xp.

I agree, but then they should be WM only at peak hours.

They’re off for 12 hours and on for 7 hours.
It was fine in Legion, and it’s fine now.

Sure, I don’t get to hit every single incursion, but that’s okay.

If they did this, dollars to donuts, we’d be spammed with complaints on the forums in equal measure to those complaining about the Incursion timer from people who now want, “Will Blizz just please turn the Incursions OFF for 12 hours, ffs???”

You’ll never get complete agreement on what’s the right system.

Meanwhile, I don’t mind the somewhat random quality of Incursion (or Invasions, come to that). And I don’t get put out if I have to occasionally miss one because the timer doesn’t line up.

Incursions DO make me REALLY miss flying, for what that’s worth! But the new account-bound flight points REALLY help!

Whose peak hours? I bet mine are different from yours.

Call me crazy but I like the current system.

It doesn’t pick favorites but it also doesn’t cater to the current 9-5 Joe Schmoe.

Night shift workers like to play the game too.

They should be on a 24 hour timer, with increased medal rewards to account for lower frequency.

Ultimately that would make the most sense, but not something I see Blizzard doing anytime soon.

Or have them occur 6 hours after last one instead of 12… then there would be double.

I’m all for that change. They would just have to limit the gear that comes out of it in some way.

Yep, just have them run daily and reset like normal daily quests. It would “please” everyone, except the experience 110-119 is laughable. I’ll just blame that on legion putting the bar too high.
