I made a hunter because I like the idea of being a ranger eliminating threats from the backline…now all of a sudden I NEED to be a melee to be good. why give pew pew class and make go whack whack? i just don’t get the hype
My guess is that people complained a lot about pets in PvP in phase 1, and this came about as a solution, but it took time to implement, and was not coordinated with the team working on gnomeregan boss design.
#1. Because Melee Hunter being TOP DPS is very funny.
#2. BM and Marks Hunter do need buffs, but they are still perfectly viable.
Do people not just play a class and spec because they want to play it…any class and spec can clear gnomer.
this was planned from blizzcon. just not with as much forethought as anticipated.
though they got the runes aligned correctly. i can now out aoe mages
I do. I’m still BM on my hunter.
I’m BM Hunter until I die.
Good, you dont NEED to be melee. Problem solved.
Just dont look at meters and you will have a much better experience. Just do your best.
This is debatable. Since most people take 1 Melee Hunter they won’t give a second glance at a ranged hunter when they can just take Spriests,Destro Locks, and Fire Mages who triple Ranged hunter dps.
My experience so far in trying to find Gnomer groups is if you aren’t a caster ranged DPS you (AKA not a ranged Hunter) you will not get response.
I’m glad melee hunters are not some kind of gimmick finally, just like I was hoping for the same with warlock tanks. I never saw the point of adding a whole class playstyle that served no purpose like the rogue tanking state currently. If Melee needs a minor adjustment fine but I don’t relish the idea of them being nerfed into the ground.
actually id prefer to run with a ranged hunter. since ive replaced The Warrior™ as pve king, i require trueshot aura, lion, wolf, and a jester to dance for me
You can still literally play ranged hunter fine. This is a version of classic wow not some sweaty mythic raid that needs optimal class stacking to clear.
I do miss doing decent damage with Marksman build, casting a 3 sec aimed shot for a 600 crit doesnt feels good
That doesn’t change the fact that they are still viable. They just aren’t ‘meta’ right now. So of course, they are ignored over the Flavor of the Month classes.
Just ask Rogues and non-tanking Warriors how they feel right now.
lol well I guess Hunter could come as the kings/warrior buff machine replacement. If that’s the case I wish we had dual spec so I could keep my Ranged BM Spec for PvP and go full MM for Raiding.
I had hoped since day 1 vanilla to see the talents for melee actually viable in the survival tree. Im extremely happy to see melee hunter viable during one phase of a seasonal server. I know it wont last into phase 3, and so should you, so calm down and let people play it for the first time ever ever ever. thx
No, they are still viable. But because Melee hunter exists you will never be taken to a raid as a ranged Hunter when your damage is completely subpar compared to caster dps (this also probably has a majority to do with the Armor on bosses).
Which I feel is just another symptom of the game’s current balancing.
I feel all classes right now are viable. But some are SO BUSTED then it’s just common sense to stack them.
Here’s how I look at it, every week or two MASSIVE BALANCE SWINGS are happening. So, while the game is still finding its footing, why not just play what you enjoy and wait for the dust to clear?
Who knows, BM/Marks Hunter can be meta next week with the way they are doing changes.
Sadly Melee talents are basically useless. Survival talents in general are just inherently worse than BM when running full Melee Hunter. The only way for it to work is to run Lone Wolf Melee Hunter. But why do that when the only benefit you get from the Survival tree is 2/2 on the Raptor strike talent?
Blizz dropped the ball with the Dual Wield Rune…they could have made a melee/trap Hunter in PvP instead and focused Runes with Melee Specialization along with specific Runes to buff our current traps or give us brand new traps that would scale with the survival tree.
