Why LGBT representation in games matters:

“Who is she? She looks fun.”

Since we’re all here to enjoy the circus #alexandriaocasiosmollett.

so you NEED something politically charged, that expresses sexuality, that can be a source of discrimination, in a game full of elitists’ and bullies?

Sounds to me like you have nothing better to do than troll and argue how the world ain’t fair…

Speaking for a good chunk of the straight community, we’re hoping for that too!

To those looking for rehabilitation from the cult of woke look into Wokal Distance, James Lindsay, Coleman Hughes, Colin Wright, Helen Pluckrose.

That’s probably enough to get people moving the right direction. Enjoy waking up from wokeness.

Who’s this ‘we’ you are referring to?

You know what I want? To be able to play a fantasy setting in peace without people irrationally trying to turn it into a commentary on modern society.

We get bombarded enough with this daily in our regular lives, part of the reason many people play video games is so they can temporarily escape all of it and just relax.

Not having enough LGBT etc in a setting for your personal tastes doesn’t automatically mean it’s oppressed, it just means most people want to enjoy a fantasy setting without it being cluttered up and deluged by social commentary.

Fantasy doesn’t have to conform to modern society, that’s part of its charm and why it’s such a popular genre. If it’s really causing you this much angst over not being represented to the degree you feel you deserve, perhaps the problem is YOU not the game.

LGBT people exist. If straight relationships and characters are allowed to exist in ‘your’ fantasy game so do LGBT people.

Sadly for whatever reason the wow dev team just appear to be slower to give us representation than the Overwatch dev team, who rightfully put a LGBT character as their game’s mascot (Tracer)

Oh.

Sweetie.

You might want to quit media in all forms if this is your goal, because you kinda can’t escape it otherwise

Funny thing about stories is that they tend to reflect modern society regardless.

One could argue BfA has commentary on overcoming prejudice and working together, and this is a theme they’ve regularly been carting out every once in a while since Warcraft 3 when they showed the Orcs in a different light and some Humans going “Nope, you’re Orc. You’re bad. You must die for that”.

Granted it’s undermined by the fact that both factions just turn around and start killing each other in the next expansion, but it’s a theme that’s very common in Warcraft.

If you want a fantasy game without commentary on modern society, then you basically just want to ignore the story(or ignore the political parts and pretend it really is just a story about fantasy characters slaying dragons and demons and nothing more).

Which you can do for the most part if you want in WoW.

I never said they don’t and I never called it ‘my’ fantasy game so please don’t put words in my mouth.

Furthermore, they don’t NEED to exist in said fantasy setting, you simply WANT them to. Your rights are not being trampled by not having more blatantly LGBT characters, YOU simply don’t believe it is enough and feel entitled
to demand more.

Many here don’t want more representation thereof. Not because they’re bigots, but like I mentioned many just don’t want to keep being hit with modern social commentary in a fantasy game.

They don’t NEED to not exist either. If you’re impartial to the issue just stay in your lane.

Weak argument.

Your argument is just as weak then. So are you saying your opinion is worth more than mine because…why exactly?
