Why Kyrian?

Seems to he the covenant of choice for at least protection. Is Divine Toll and its soulbind just that powerful? Is it that bottom talent with magic damage reduction? Or something else?

I switched from Venthyr to at least see the covenant story. (Btw, you cannot transmog over old covenant armor. So until full ketchup, no new transmog

I came from venthyr and honestly, if you play more than 1 spec I find kyrian way more fun. The ability makes each spec really fun. Venthyr always felt boring to me and I was them up until cov campaign this week. Finished and switched and have not looked back.

Thats kinda where i am at. Finished the quest and wanted to see the kyrian’s story

I also switched to Kyrian from Venthyr. Loved the “gothic paladin” aesthetic—reminds me of Diablo, but Ashen Hallow, despite being the most powerful ability, is just too awkward to use. It syncs well with Mad Paragon, yes, but that’s about it. Casting + the 4 min CD… blah.

Divine Toll on the other hand packs a pretty huge punch every minute. It also syncs well with the execute build and makes switching specs a breeze. Really enjoying it so far.

There’s a lot of good Avengers Shield buffs in the game now. With First Avenger, Divine Toll becomes a solid defensive cooldown on top of the big damage and mass interrupt.

Kyrian is versatile, easier to use, and divine Toll is just a really fun button to hit.

Divine toll for protection and holy has absolutely no competition from the other covenants in usefulness.

As protection it’s an aoe threat grab that does massive damage, silences 5 targets, grants you an absorb shield, generates 5 holy power and only has a 1 minute cooldown.

As holy it’s a burst aoe heal that generates 5 holy power which can be used on nearly every pull, that paladin desperately needed. With shock barrier it also places an absorb on everyone in your parry, and can apply glimmer.

Ret it’s an aoe ability for 5 holy power, it’s good but since it doesn’t do much for single target venthyr can provide a small margin more damage overall.

If you exclusively play ret, the choice between the two is up to you. If you ever play holy or prot, you should go kyrian.

A really good summary for the power that Divine toll has atm.

I will say its still Kyrian > Venthyr > Necro for ret powerlevel, but its a much smaller gap between them than the other two specs; and if you do plan on playing more than just Ret, you do feel a bit forced into Kyrian.

Depends on what you’re doing. Ashen Hallow may pull ahead in some situations but the oddly long CD makes it useless in others. Divine Toll on the other hand is equally useful whether you’re running a dungeon or just fighting a world mob.

Funny that so many Paladins here want to switch from Venthyr to Kyrian after the story ended. I’m strongly considering it too, I’m missing my pals Kleia and Pelagos.

I personally hate having to leave the Venthyr. I love everything about them, even Ashen Hallow. The issue is just how strong the consistent burst potential is compared to AH outside of raid content.

I really wish Venthyr were stronger, but it feels like you’re pigeonholed in PvP.

Interesting choice of word lol

I like to do puns like that

As for switching for the Story, i just want to see the stories. V & N end on the exact same cinematic from what ive heard and my Hunter has done the Night Fae. It was either another character level up or swap

Just switched to Kyrian the other day. I mostly play Ret, but have been dabbling into Holy more and seemed like the best Cov if you want to play multiple specs.

Ohhh ok I gotcha lol, wasn’t sure but I get it now since my wife does similar things

I rolled Night Fae the first time around, with all the blessing and seeing other trolls (Zandalari Troll Paladin). Got to Renown 21 and decided that blessings were too inconsistent and sometimes I don’t even bother trying to time it. Swapped to Kyrian (Renown 14) and having a blast with Divine Toll. It’s crazy how it changes the gameplay.

This entire expansion for 13 out of 12 classes could basically be summed up as ‘go smurf or raccoon-butteryfly or just log out for the next 2 years’…

This is defined as ‘balanced’.

But yeah. Kirian for paladin really is that good. Basically go Kirian, play your other toons, or don’t even bother putting talent points into Prot or Holy and pretend you’re just a fashion-forward arms warrior.

Divine Toll is insanely powerful.

The ability to summon an owl-penguin… less so. The potions are handy - 3 lock-cookies on a different cooldown - but that darn follower just adds screen clutter.

What screen clutter? Just dismiss the steward after getting your potions. You don’t don’t have to let him hang around for the full 5 minutes.

But… the music

If we’re talking music… then Night Fae. Ardenweald music is BiS.

I just went from 23 renown Kyrian to venthyr. For PvP Kyrian prot is good for holy power generation but damage is kinda poo. Venthyr with mad paragon I can pull out a 17k plus hammer of wraith. Use it well it’s insane. Such a hard skill to use well that’s the only problem and I’m still learning. It also doubles as an oh sh…t get off me skill as people tend to run away once they see it. Door of Shadows is pretty cool too. Chuck out a silence shield throw , interrupt with the steed (PvP talents) and door of Shadows interrupt with a HOj and a caster is completely shut down
