I don’t get why they keep juggling between Khadgar and Jaina.
Everyone is already very familiar with Jaina as a prime archmage character with an actual personality, and she’s always been 100x more useful and interesting than him.
Plus she already has an established relationship to Kalecgos (although dissolved, which would make things more interesting).
Other than “harr harr dadgar so funny”, he’s always felt super out of place to me and just serves as a generic mcdudebro with “LET’S GO GUYZ!!! >:D” lines.

I’m just sad that despite the time skip and him being mostly MIA in Shadowlands (so giving him even more off-screen time) that he hasn’t grown an epic beard. I mean, after all the herb is called “Khadgar’s Whiskers” for a reason

Khadgar was the apprentice of Medivh & a Guardian in training, he is more powerful and wiser than Jaina.
Why do you think the Dreadlords tried to corrupt Khadgar and not Jaina.
They saw him as a more powerful weapon.

I think they wanted to play it safe with our expansion guide this time. Khadgar is a fan favorite so you can’t really go wrong with him is my guess.

Jaina’s something like 45, no kids, going grey.
Khadgar is in his like… late 50’s? Remember that he was aged magically, and is in fact much younger than he appears.
If their a ‘secret’ couple… good for them.

She does I wont deny that. The problem with Jaina is that there are just so many edgy characters already. Because of this the more fun characters like khadghar have become more liked.
I think it’s because Khadgar is one of the most inoffensive characters wow has. He’s pretty much never been in any seriously controversial plot points, he’s never the focal point of an expansion narrative, and he generally doesn’t overstay his welcome. So when he shows up it’s either a pleasant or at worst, a neutral surprise to see him. As far as I can tell, people don’t really have much cause to have extreme negative feelings for him at all. Blizzard handles him well most of the time.
