Disclaimer, I am just coming back to the game and haven’t played since Legion so I don’t know all the facts or why your crazy horde leader burnt down Teldrassil. But since it is gone now, why isn’t there a new starting area for the future refugee Night Elves?
We have a pumpkin patch in Stormwind.
Since our story is over that’s presumably all we’re getting now.
The starting zone for them is still set in Catacylsm. It doesn’t phase over to the destroyed version until you hit level 110. So there’s no real need to make a new zone and city yet. Not unless they do some kind of major world update like Cata again, which is unlikely. Plus Zidormi is always there to take you back.
I always chalked it up to a ripple in the space time continuum when my kids ask why the tree isn’t burned down on their littler elves.
They seem happy w/ that answer for now.
The same reason the Blood Elves and Draenei are stuck in the Burning Crusade, and most of the other starting races are stuck in the Cataclysm.
It takes time and resources to develop this stuff and Blizzard would rather develop new stuff instead of work on old stuff. Plus it would mean an old world revamp to update these old zones.
Plus they would have to update these zones for every expansion…
So yeah timey-wimey ball.
Elune is too busy being vengeful she forgot about the rest that aren’t a Night Warrior.
Same reason Forsaken don’t have a new sewer to live in - time magic works for Blizz. I’d rather they didn’t use so many bronze dragons but it’s way easier for them to giving new racial capitals. Plus NEs and Forsaken would have to get in line behind Gnomes, Goblins, Worgen and Trolls
Not really, they got their vengeance when they killed a single Val’kyr and Nate ran away laughing. Elune is busy hanging out with Blizzard’s writers in the “we don’t care about night elves” clubroom.
Back in Legion’s alpha, every class had a beautifully made and customized portal spell that took them to their class hall. These were cut very early on because, as per Blizzard, they wanted to make going through Dalaran a requirement to make it look more populated.
Now consider that, starting in Cata, SW and Org were the only cities to receive visual updates and the new commodities, a trend which has continued up to and including the inclusion of the portal rooms, while also removing various portals from other cities ever since Cata’s beta.
Until the philosophy of packing people into color coded tuna cans changes, none of the refugee races are going to receive new homes, and in all likelihood we can expect Thunder Bluff and Ironforge to fall in the near future.
Say sike right now (lol)
Blizzard is lazy
The same reason Worgen still start in Gilneas eventhough it’s also been destroyed.
I’d rather them not spend time creating new starting zones. It appears Blizzard doesn’t want to anyway. All the new races start at 20 and don’t have or need a starting zone. I wish the had one though.
So short answer is laziness or not enough resources/time.
I’ll see you in 2 years.
Night who?
Blizzard probably.
The starting zones are time locked to just after the Cataclysm.
Sad but true. The night elves could settle for broken isles.
Cut some deals with the ghost elves…and boom the new Night elf land with tons of space for the worgen. Werewolves and ghosts…I’d see that an interesting theme to azuna lol.
then some of this war crap would make sense. WHy do you hate the night elves nightborne? Because they are pita neighbors.
Fair enough that.
Trust me, I wish Silvermoon would get updated to this “Thriving” city the game claims it now is. Would love to see the Blood elf starter zone have us start in this bustling city full of elves instead of these desolated ruins with this massive scar running through it.
To see the story reflect that the Sunwell was been restored, and that the Blood elves are no longer struggling to survive, and have the player run around completing quests and learning how Quel’thalas has recovered would make things so much more interesting.
Because it isn’t burnt down for them, if by that you mean players. It is the old way, for new players.
Existing players can see Zidormi, in Darkshore, to change it back.
That was the reason I stopped playing a blood elf, or Horde, back in BC. I was a newb BE Hunter, who finally got to the city and found it pretty horrible to get around in. You’d think it would have been “Stormwind for the Horde”, but it wasn’t.
