As the title says, just trying to finish my mount farming and I have to do the HoA/Nazjatar/Beginning of Ny’alotha quest lines to even unlock the Vale version of Ny’alotha.
As far as I know, other pieces of content in the game Pre and Post BFA doesn’t have this issue; Do it one character, and it’s unlocked for alts.

BfA was a horrible mess of unlocks that have screwed up so many zones— new and old— making it a terrible mess to try to figure out.

Right!? Doesn’t the Vale have like 3 different phases now? Pre-Sha explosion, post-Sha explosion, N’zoth assault?

The pre-sha explosion phase was deleted with the SoO patch.

And several years later they added a Bronze dragon to allow you back to the pre-explosion phase…Lorewalker Cho, actually.

Unfortunately you will likely need to do some breadcrumb quests to get there. However, it really is a mess when it comes to figuring out what you need to do.

I’ve been having issue getting into Nyalotha from either entrance for a while. And I know I don’t have to do any questing cause I did the raid when it was current…but some weeks, the entrance just isn’t there

So in order to see Ny’alotha in the Vale (on new characters/characters who haven’t unlocked it):
- Do the beginning of Boralus/Dazar’alor up to where you can pick zones to start. (You should also get the Heart of Azeroth during this part).
- This should allow you to go to your ship to start the “Send the Fleet” quest.
- Set sail; it will send you to the beginning of the Naz’jatar scenario. You will need to complete this to unlock the portal back to your major city (If you have to hearth, talk to your harbor master to get back)
- Once you get the portal unlocked and come back to complete the quest, Magni will appear with a quest.
- Do this questline to go to Highmountain and do the Scenario there for the black dragon scale. (Quests should be The Heart Forge/Harnessing the Power)
- Once these are done, Magni has a breadcrumb to go back to Naz’jatar that you can take or ignore.
- There will now be an Urgent Missive in the boralus’ harbor master’s office table, or on a horde ship in dazar’alor that will start the Unwelcomed Advisor questline for Ny’alotha.
- Do this quest chain up to Surfacing Threats (To do the assault in Uldum) and you’ve unlocked Ny’alotha in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. You do not need to finish the Surfacing Threats quest, you just need to be on that quest.
Hope this helps anyone looking to farm it on more than 1 character.

As someone who went back and unlocked both the cloak and Nya’lotha (not upgrading the cloak, just unlocking it), on 26 alts, I feel you lol. The unlocks on BFA were a mess. I must be a masochist to have done it on 28 toons. (Two characters I mainly complete things on + 26 alts.)

I think I’d be the spitting image of that Stewie Griffin gif of him in a padded room. lol

Oh I did more than that. On those 28 toons, I unlocked Twilight Highlands on all of them. I unlocked the Isle of Thunder on all of them. They all have fully upgraded level 3 garrisons. I did all the unlocks in Legion (granted those are easy since there are so many skips). Did all the BFA unlocks (there are a lot of skips). Did all the Shadowlands unlocks including taking a few days in the Maw to buy the teleporter thingy. Did the all of the Dragonflight unlocks. And all the current TWW unlocks (which thankfully are easy thanks to warbands).
Yeah I’m an altoholic. I don’t do much endgame other than running LFR, lol. Warbands are a lifesaver for me.

Hey… if you enjoy it, then that’s all that matters! The only end game I do is Delves, so I hear ya.

Yep I want to be able to hop on any alt and do whatever I want. Go to any raid I want. I can take an alt I’ve barely played and teleport right to the Maw raid. Or Azshara’s Palace. With no issues lol.

I just wish the rest of us had that option without wanting to murder someone for the hoops that we have to jump through again and again and again. lol

Doing the work on each individual and new character is what gives the game a very good sense of progression and provides a very rich flavor to progression.
I am very glad that we have to unlock it on all characters so that each of my characters has the chance to progress properly.
It really is best for the game.

That’s nice, but the rest of the game in so many expansions gives skips and BfA doesn’t. Options are a thing. Use them or don’t. But there are no options for BfA and no one should have to play through NEW content to unlock OLD phases.
I’m not engaging with your trolling further. I now know exactly who you are after this post. Bye bye!

Been a while sadly - sometimes a good troll can be entertaining.
And yeah Ny’alotha is the outlier.
I took a remix alt and was able to access Antorus (the portal was just there in Dalaran - no quests / skips needed), all the SL stuff (had to click a few ‘skip’ options on quests but all opened with no issue - could even buy the teleporter to Sanctum), and every other raid except Ny’alotha (though also cannot access alternate faction BfA dungeons - BfA is just a total mess).

Absolutely agree and this should not be necessary, but there’s actually a way for Alliance to get to Zandalar by boat. If you’re coming from Stormwind: fly to Booty Bay, take the ship to Ratchet, and fly to the Echo Isles (troll starting area). There’s a dock on the east side of the island at approx these coordinates:
/way #463 71, 38
Dockmaster is hostile but low level, I think level 30, and leaves you alone. Trolls on the ship are friendly. It might be easier in the long run to do the necessary quests but this is what I’ve been doing for alts during this event.
