- Would like to tell me how did you end up with that name?
I know naming a characters can take x10 more time than customizing a character
Moritz is a character from spring awakening.
When i was a teen i identified with the character a lot.
So ive been using the name for my character in just about ever game for the last 14 or so years.
Most of my character’s names are what they are because I hit random and made little changes until I got something I liked.
Which I got a lot of my names before the era of randomized names 90% looking like somebody rolled their face across their keyboard.
Originally Rosenivy was gonna be Rosenrot. Fav Rammstein song and album. But the name was taken. This was back when Rosenivy was also a girl so I just remember seeing the long red hair and thinking of the DC Poison Ivy. So I smooshed the words together after saying it outloud a few times. Said like Roh - Zin - Eye - Vee
At least 1/4 of my characters (this one included) are old D&D characters (or based on them if I had to change it because someone had it already) I gave new life to when I signed up to WoW. So that planning was already done.
Some are just goofy things like my goblins named Abzinthe and another named Ginfizzie. Sometimes I just throw some letters and mix 'em around until something I can pronounce comes out.
All my Tauren are anagrams of the same name.
Normally I just pick a name that sounds cool. But this time I chose Alpine for a blue/white Dracthyr because the Alpines climate is above the treeline, where I like to soar, where it’s cold with white snow and blue skies.
It’s a name I pulled from a Dragon Age codex that I thought sounded very pretty for an elf, with a really nice background for a mage:
Ceridweth was one such infamous apostate. She lived during the latter half of the Storm Age and was known for hunting and templars that abused their charges excessively. Ceridweth was also known as the Watcher and the Spiral Eye, so named for the spiral glyph she marked near her victims.
Surprisingly it’s basically not taken anywhere, so I even got away with it on Moon Guard. Which is nice because, yeah, naming a character usually takes me AGES.
Plus it shortens to Ceri, which is really cute.
I went with Solare because of Dark Souls.
If the day ever comes that we get Undead Paladins a name change will be in order and Solare will be reborn.
well, whenever I run out of names, I usually will go through the random name generator find one I find interesting. Shorten/change it slightly and there you have it.
Some song from 1995 decided to become a random earworm many, many years later.
Riddle me this, honey bun!
Tolkien fan.
That and it sounded pretty.
I just hit the random name generator lol.
I’m terrible with names.
I use the random name generator in some MMO way back in the day, found one that I liked, and changed a few letters.
then I carried that name and variations of it from game to game.
when I run out of suitable variations, I use the name generator again and do the same thing.
I have a naming convention, add “Savior” to the end.
I was Darksavior on my DK (until some jerk got merged in to had it first, now he’s Darksavio)
I am Felsavior.
I have a hopesavior
I have a shadowsavior (I think)
Etc…
Otherwise I just have fun with Google translate. Made a LFD warlock duo with my friend Cattiva and Cattivo which are the masculine/feminine way of saying “evil” in Italian.
Oh and I have a Kultiran named Tiramasue because the joke writes itself.
Because it’s funny.
“Why did you name your character?”
Because it’s a required field?
Luxuria means Lust (the deadly sin) in Latin.
Look at my mane’s colour. Now see how it covers my magnificent chiseled features.
Also, I really had a thing for black cloaks.
Because I am me and you are not me.
Plus Illi-daddy.
