Why is WoD the worst xpac?

WoD wasn’t great, but the classes…ALL OF THEM, played outstanding

People wanted player housing, blizzard gave it to us, but for some reason thought that players wanted to spend all day in them, so they turned the entire expansion into a mobil game. War table (or whatever they call it now) wasnt optional and became the game.

Also my main class at the time (monk) was OP for 2 weeks at the start of the expac so blizzard nerfed it into the ground. Top DPS on cleave fights and kicked from pugs during single target, while having the hardest rotation on the game.

They scrapped half of it before it was even released to turn left so there was a lot that felt unfinished.

I do have to say though at this point, it was better than BFA is currently.

They announced they were removing flying from new expansions.

Then when everyone started quitting they announced this Pathfinder bullshi1t.

It failed to deliver upon a huge amount of promises. It had exactly two content patches and so much scrapped content that I could probably reach the word cap listing them all.

The only meaningful content throughout the entire expansion after reaching max-level was raiding. The raids themselves were very good though. However, this expansion also had exactly two raid tiers, which is by far the fewest out of all expansions.

There was also the 6.1 patch, which will forever be remembered as the single worst “content” patch in the history of WoW’s history. It added the Selfie Camera.

There was never any reason to interact with anyone because your Garrison basically played the game for you.

WoD was also the expansion that started the Pathfinder debacle, because the devs intended to remove flying from all future content forever this expansion and the game’s subscriber count dropped so sharply from WoD’s release to exactly one year from then that Blizzard switched their metrics completely and stopped reporting subscription numbers altogether.

BFA is a very bad expansion, but take it from someone who actually did the little good content WoD had to offer: there is no world in which it’s worse than WoD, and anyone who thinks WoD was better is absolutely delusional and doesn’t remember how atrocious WoD really was. The majority of what makes BFA as mediocre as it is can be directly attributed to changes made in WoD.

I like it but I dont like that my base is orc themed I wanted a undead theme base…

Stupid orcs <.>

I can play alts right now, and do pretty much all content. I have 4 active allys and 5 hordes.

Its not. Bfa is the worst xpac by far.

Wod’s BIGGEST flaw was that blizzard abandoned it.
BFA on the otherhand has so many trash systems its actually crazy.

WoD also had much MUCH better class design as it had only pruned a minute amount from MoP (peak of class design) where as BFA is the aftermath of 3 expansions worth of pruning.

Epitome of stoned or clubbed to death.

I put WoD on the bottom for the sole reason that they abandoned it and I prioritize acknowledging that over the mess of that which is BFA. Never forget they hailed the twitter patch as major and stated that they would create as much content as needed for WoD because they were mulling over doing two tiers instead of three and then we saw what happened with HFC.

and still better than BFA

Wod was bad, but still better than bfa

Go for it, enjoy your mission table. I’ll be over here doing Island Expeditions, Warfronts, ARs, WQs, M+s…

Inb4: lol that content sucks. At least BfA has content to complain about.

What little content WoD had was great. There just wasn’t a lot of it.

Let’s not forget that WoD is the

only expansion without a new class or race.

WoD is easily, and by a large degree, the worst expac for several reasons but chief among them are lack of content and Garrisons. Garrisons alone would have relegated it to the trash.

It was also the only expansion (up to that point) where I had to wait over a year to fly.

Well …

  1. Time-travel so it felt like what we did was disconnected from all that came before and ALSO time-travel and alternate dimensions are hard to pull off well.

  2. An orc-centric expac after an orc-centric end to MoP.

  3. Loads of cut content that we all knew about because it was shown early but never developed.

  4. Garrisons that were NOT housing but were your own personal little city that isolated players. Also they were not highly customizable. Also they ruined the economy.

  5. A whole patch that was selfies and Twitter.

  6. No content outside of raiding at max. LFR rewards lame. Casual players left with not much to do.

  7. “Hey, by the way, we plan to eliminate flying in the future. That’s cool, right?”

  8. A shipyard where you could not go on a ship. Also left sharks for rewards forever.

  9. The story was bad. It was really very bad.

  10. Really wonky reward systems throughout the expac. Useless treasures, for example. Follower rewards that were too much. Ugh.

I guess ten is enough. It’s just bad. I replayed through the early bits about a month ago and it was hilariously bad. So much running! Do a quest then run with lore characters to a new place, rinse and repeat. So bad. Corny.

It also only had 2 raid tiers while every other xpac has had 3. I think HFC was the longest content drought in WoW’s history?

I believe it had the most prominent, public cut content of any xpac by a large margin. Karabor was supposed to be a raid and both capital cities got cut.

Garrisons, much like warfronts or islands, are just another example of Blizzard creating an idea and abandoning it. They never expanded on them throughout all of Warlords. Just build a gold farm and be done with it.

And also I have always laughed at how ridiculously irrelevant invasions were. I did like 3 of them all expansion, and I was at my most dedicated back in WoD so if invasions would have been a worthwhile activity for gear or something I would have been doing them.
