I guess having the best offensive, defensive and utility cd’s isnt enough for them
I’m all for warlocks having strong pet utility as that’s their entire historical context. A caster with a pet.
but maybe do something about the non-existent cast time to resummon pet at virtually no cost.
Strong warlock pets was balanced because Feldom had a long cd. / Resummoning was a chore. Warlocks swapping out pets like they’re changing targets is an interesting dynamic to the game but it’s absolutely oppressive given the strength of other classes tookits in comparison. It should have a CD like it originally did. There’s a reason pet summons had like 5 second cast times or whatever.
It’s going back to 6 seconds in SLs, where have y’all been?
Makes me chuckle when people say do something about this when they literally are…
nobody is really swapping pets etc mid match and pets are extremely easy to kill. during the reaping flames era it was a huge problem for multiple pet classes
we don’t need to make pet utility removable. class utility is a good thing. the 6 sec summons they have in SL right now are a TERRIBLE idea.
Pets are not a problem right now. They are creating a problem by adding this 6 second pet summon, and we shouldn’t advocate it
pets mad annoying not letting my healer get drinks =(.
The problem is they (blizzard) don’t seem to care/remember/understand why the game was designed they way they did before.
Long cast pet summon was acceptable when pets were durable. AKA Soul link was baseline, and feldom was even put in the early tiers of the talent tree to make it so that even non-demo locks had access to pet summon.
In cata, with soulburn, they gave the option on a long cd to burn any pet you liked on a 40? second cd.
I think in MoP there may have been a cooldown / proc where if your pet died it reduced the cast time of the resummon IDR. Stopped playing lock in MoP.
my point is pet killing is / was healthy for the game, and could be again if they don’t ruin it by not adding the tools warlocks traditionally had to both protect their pet, and cooldowns to secure pet revival.
I think the long cast time is a great change, but it needs work because if it just goes ahead as is it’ll obviously just be toxic because you’ll be porting to safety in a unlimited mobility meta to have your pet-resummon interrupted 2 seconds in after burning your only mobility lol.
Maybe they should bring back shadowflame or w/e. the 70% snare dragons breath.
inside the mind of a should-be-rival-destro-lock
i watched featherfeet do this yesterday bro. even if it were true that nobody is really doing it, they should be
Idk why ppl are acting brand new for stuff locks have had for so long.
Don’t think they should just prune stuff now that feels broken because they let caveats and balances of the past just slide.
Mana management/Life Tap. Alongside cast times and fel dom did more than we took for granted
Hey I just faced you in arenas. Rematch!
Pets are supposed to be a double edged sword.
Pro: Almost fire and forget impact.
Con: If the pet dies, you are “partially killed”, in the sense that you’ve lost some of your combat ability.
If you don’t include that con, it’s VERY obnoxious for the person getting whittled away by the pet, or disrupted by them. It should be a valid, and rewarding strategy to eliminate the pet class’ pet, and the only counter should either be not using the pet like a torpedo, or disengaging long enough to get a long (easily countered) cast off.
They’re even doing it in the AWC.
Bro.
lock brain
95% of locks arent. Too mich hassle. Just wsnt to pewpew casually
most of the time pre match I’m analyzing the comp I’m going to play against as well as my own and deciding what pet will have the most impact ahead of time. if my pet dies I’m trying to summon another one of that same pet for the most part
if you’re running say imp into jungle and they come with diamond ice yeah you’re gonna swap once you see that
but is it worth to swap to say imp after you’ve used your felhunter kick for the dispel in the middle of a go if you can just fear or coil or shadowfury anyways?
I welcome more experienced players giving advice/situations where this would be really applicable. always trying to learn and get better. if there are comps/situations that pet swapping is particularly strong into I want to know the best way to do it.
I’m sure very high end players can min max those situations but that stuff is commendable, not something to try to eliminate from the game by adding a 6 second cast time to it. giving classes the ability to micromanage those things is good!
This is why people call most locks brain dead.
Give lock pets the hunter pet treatment?
They do
Warlocks can position their pets in a lot of safe places that other pet classes can’t. Imp you can keep behind a pillar with your healer or very spaced away so that people can’t go after it easily
I feel like you have to teach a new warlock this every week.
Very untrue.
