Why is Vashj in Maldraxxus?

So The Arbiter was still active in the BC days and The Arbiter judges “mortal” souls. Naga are immortal, if not why would all naga refer to our character as mortals. Vashj definitely kept her immorality because of N’Zoth and she was even sent to help Illidan because of the Old Gods.

Same reason Kethazaad was there as well

She probably was Immortal in the old Night Elven “Don’t age, don’t get sick” kind of deal.

Probably the same reason she spoke to my Vulpera (who had never been to Outland) as someone she had met before. The writers said so.

Yeah, as above. “Immortal” in this case means ageless. Lots of immortals die in WoW every day.

Okay so devs just forgot to say “ The Arbiter judges mortal souls and immortal souls who die”

She herself wasn’t even immortal. Calling others “mortals” is a way to elevate yourself in power.

Mortal/Immortal in a lore context isn’t the same as mortal/immortal in a colloquial sense. Naga and night elves don’t age, but they weren’t actual Immortal beings.

Anything not in the shadowlands are mortals.
It’s just the semi-immortal people like Elfs refer other races as mortals because their lifespans is like 1/100 of theirs.

I think its more like can’t age or get sick but can still be killed ext.

Demons, Titans, Elementals, etc. are also immortals. Basically anything that goes into the Shadowlands when it dies is mortal.

Well, technically the “immortality” the night elves had was only the ageless kind. They could still be killed. Their immortality also wasn’t natural. It was a blessing that they no longer possess. They originated as mortals, so they go to the shadowlands.

Naga were once Night Elves, which means they were originally mortal, which means they also go to the shadowlands. The same is true of high/blood elves. They seem to have the ageless kind of immortality due to the Sunwell, but I’m sure you’d still consider them mortal.

Id add that while the well of eternity/tree was up before malf blew it up they were as close to true immortal as they could get. They didnt age didnt get sick sleep was a choice as they never got tired and any wound short of dismemberment healed quickly. But yea vash wasnt immortal just didnt die from age.

Maldraxxus smells awful, she probably felt more at home there.

Wasn’t very “immortal” when my raid team murdered her for loot.

Well, to be fair, it’s a mixed bag. We know Blood Elves aged, and Anasterian Sunstrider specifically was old, and had declining health. Night Elves truly didn’t age, after they got blessed by Nozdormu who like … controlled time and stuff, but the Kaldorei before had some level of aging, just super super super slow because they had extended lifespans. This could also have been a result of tapping into some latent Troll self, because Trolls also age pretty slowly, and regen wounds and have resistance of disease.

I think there are lots of fake"immortals" out there who think they are immortal when they are just long lived.

If you aren’t a Magic Creature, bound to a Magic plane of existence, you are mortal and you go to the Shadowlands.

If you are a Magic Creature, you either respawn upon death (if killed outside your magic realm) or you get a true death without afterlife (if killed in your realm)

I’m pretty sure that the only way that she’d do this is if you’d run your Vulpera through Serpentshrine Cavern and killed her with that character. I shadowbox my two accounts through levelling together, and when I talked to her in Maldraxxus with both my characters she recognized my Hunter (who I had dragged through the raid for transmog at some point long after BC was over) and referred to how she’d killed her.

My Rogue who had never gone through the raid got generic “hello Maw Walker, aid me” text.

The kill doesn’t have to have been when the content was current, but somewhere in the code, if you’ve got a set lady vash’j kill = yes, she will talk to you with more familiarity.

So Kael Thas’s phoenixes are okay then? oh good, I was worried for a moment!

Probably check’s your character’s achievements. Probably a quest id related to killing her and triggering her dialogues.
