What is the point of putting it on such a long CD?
I have a lot of other things to say about Spriest but today I shall ask you this simple question.
I just don’t understand the LOGIC behind the BALANCE of Spriest in this expansion…

It’s a CD based ability now. It has been for a while now. It’s just like saying “Why is shield wall a CD based ability?” It’s a defensive CD. At least it’s not a 3, or 4 min CD like some classes have.
Hell, even Monks have a 7 min defensive CD.
I think the question is why a cd that is so weak (heals ONE person) AND on the global have a 2 minute cooldown.
Answer: there is no logic behind it. They made it significantly weaker and kept the cd the same. Laxy.
I agree. 2 mins base is too long for a CD that’s only heals one player per single target damage
in 8.1 its being taken off the GCD and is granting 6 insanity, I don’t think shadow is by any means fixed but VE in particular seems fine now
Is VE even worth using without San’layn?
You nailed it buddy!
It just seems pointless at its current state lol.
Reducing the CD of it is not going to compel people to use it more. I barely have on my bar to begin with and even with it being in a way out of the way spot, it feels like a waste of space.
It’s sad that the last remaining niche of shadow has been squished into a single CD that’s not really used
Make VE what it used to be…a persistent trickle heal based on a percentage of all damage. As it is, it’s only marginally useful in some situations and doesn’t address the glaring lack of defensives that shadow priest have.
What would having VE as a trickle heal accomplish? It would make a LOT of shadow priests happy. ActiBlizzard needs to be making people happy right now.
Although the impending buff (reversion) of dispersion to heal you while you’re dispersed is nice, shadow priest is still a very vulnerable class.
It feels good to get a double eruption with VE active on a large trash pack. Aside from that yeah i wish it had more tangible impact. Taking it off the gcd will make it a bit less punishing but the healing could use a boost.
VE heals one ally for 85% of the single target damage you deal. All that aoe does nothing. It probably isn’t even healing you.
Grossly negligent game design.
Having 10+ year old spell SW:D removed from our baseline kit despite Shadow under-performing in Uldir should be enough to tell anyone that the intern locked in a broom closest responsible for shadow’s design doesn’t actually care about the state of the spec.
Just think of the spell as a metaphor for the state of content production in BFA; when it does come you barely notice it and it wasn’t what you wanted and everyone starts to wonder why they still bother with it.
Of all the complaints to have for shadow, we’re really going to complain about VE?
You guys will find anything to complain about. It’s a 300k heal on a 2m CD in M+ when used correctly.
(24000*.85)*15=306,000. When are you pulling 24k single target dps?
Did I say single target? I said m+, pretty clear your best use is on difficult trash.
Even so, for pure single target, you’re still looking at a 150k-200k heal depending on where you’re at in your VF cycle on a 2m CD. It’s still good, and of all the reasonable shadow complaints, VE isn’t one of them.
You are neglecting the fact that the heal isnt smart. I get that you believe shadow is in a wonderful state but VE is a pretty terrible CD.
This is one of the reasons people are complaining and it just shows that most dont understand how bad VE is. Here is the spell.
Fills you with the embrace of Shadow energy for 15 sec, causing you to heal a nearby ally for 85% of any single-target Shadow spell damage you deal.
Single target damage only. VE on trash if you want but the spell ignores AOE.

Also in the spell description, A ally. One. It should at the very least be off the gcd. For a 2 min cd, it should also heal you. Or at least be a smart heal. If it was better maybe i could get in a mythic i drastically outgear. But im just complaining now.

“heals allies based on 85% of the single-target damage you do on a 2-minute cooldown … Note that the damage of our DoTs also gets converted to healing, and that Void Erruption damage does too.”
Please do some research. This is in the basic Shadow guides.

You’ve been around long enough to know my stance on shadow, and you know it’s not that 8.0 shadow has been anything but trash. VE is one of the best parts of our m+ kit, seems folks just don’t know how to use it.
I “off heal” with VE all the time, its always on my bar. It helps out the healer and saves people in a pinch when they have dots ticking on them. Its not much but something is better than nothing. I agree that it could be much better. I love the idea of being able to heal by doing damage. O wait, then we would be dipping into Disc priest >.<
