Why Is This Allowed? (Moonguard)

No surprise coming from an Undead. laughs derisively

Was I just racist’d at? I don’t know what correlation there is between being Undead and supporting a ‘live/let live’ mentality

Let’s not preface this with lies. No one’s daily “rounds” take them to Goldshire unless they’re going there specifically to hang out in Goldshire. Especially on Moon Guard.

This bit is definitely relevant though.

It’s a tough situation for me.

I think most people actively ERPing, especially those involved in Guilds revolving around it, are as clear as they possibly can be about not (E)RPing with minors. It’s in the ads. It’s in the Guild Info. It’s in their personal TRP Profiles. I’m assuming most would take the extra step to ask before engaging in anything if it’s outside of their 18+ Guild.

But as you said, nobody is going to prove their age. No one is going to upload a picture of their ID. Any 14 year old can lie and say they’re 20 over text. It’s not hard.

I’m mixed on it because it’s obviously morally wrong to ERP with a minor. I’m not gonna pretend to know the laws on something like this where there’s no IRL contact or intent of IRL contact or even intent of sexual messages with a minor. But morally, yes, it’s wrong.

But…

It’s also total fiction.
2 people writing about their video games characters.
It’s not even cybering. It’s less personal than that.
And the minor actively sought it out under false pretenses;
It’s not a pedophilia situation.

So while it’s wrong, and should obviously be halted immediately if the other party finds out, I don’t necessarily think it’s world-shattering if it (on occasion - hopefully rarely if at all) happens because someone couldn’t pick up on the lie through text chat alone.

But I also think in most cases it’d become fairly obvious fairly early on, simply due to the subject matter we’re talking about. At least with younger teens like I used in my example.

I remember Moonguard as it use to be. A place of good Roleplay. I would chat and engage among its denizens, and write quests with the guilds.

But I remember too the day the ERPers came. The days marked by cries of Night Elves and stains on the Inn walls, while terrified NPCs huddled in darkened corners.

I led many to the safety of Stormwind, but many suffered the ultimate price. That day my beloved server died. Their the vile ERPers practiced their deviant ways and grew their TRPs with filth.

So by the time I heard about Moon Guard, it was, well, already Moon Guard.

Did the ERPers migrate from a specific place or did they just converge at some point because it was an active RP server?

Oh I don’t know. I was just joking and copied Akamas black temple speech.

Fair enough. I’d heard something about Feathermoon or something like that in the past, but never looked into it, so I felt like that might have been a thing.

OP saw a big exclamation point in Goldshire.

I… Can’t believe i typed that.

People should take that stuff out of the game.

Short answer? Yes, it is reportable. Whether they’ll be banned though is a different matter entirely.

Long answer? Moon Guard is a very… special… place. Most people on the realm do not go to Goldshire, it’s considered a pox on the community that we’d love Blizzard to get rid of. Unfortunately, every time Blizzard has tried to get rid of it, they’ve failed because people just keep coming back.

So yeah, if you’re being solicited to join an ERP guild, you can report that. But it’s unlikely that Blizzard will actually do anything about it short of telling you to block the individual and turn off guild invites to avoid such things in the future.

Things… And, you know, stuff. :smiling_imp:

It is, but it doesn’t matter. Blizzard doesn’t take action against Open World cybers*x, pedophilia and bestiality at this place, even when all these things are written down for everyone to see in the RP-addon. Just don’t think about it anymore and move on. It’s been like this for many years and won’t change. And for some weird reason many people defend this place.

That is more complicated than it sounds.

Roleplaying a character is stepping into their shoes and playing that character as if they were one of us in the real world. A lot of people just like the fairly normal aspects of roleplaying. The social interactions, the various server or guild events that tell stories that they can get invested in, etc. But there are some that prefer to delve into the more erotic sides of their characters, after all, to those people, their characters, just like us in the real world, have needs and they will attempt to act those out with other individuals who consent and engage with it.

Taking it out of the game can lead to complications, especially since real names or handles are often used outside of the game, which blurs the line between the character, and the person playing the character. When that happens, it can create drama and lead to serious issues down the line, which is why a lot of people choose to keep their shenanigans within the game instead of taking it out of the game.

Actually they will, if it’s reported, but most people simply choose not to do that. Using erotic language, describing sexual acts within public channels is considered profanity and that is reportable, especially in respect to pedophilia. Blizzard takes that very seriously.

But they’re reactive, not proactive, so it has to be reported first before Blizzard will step in.

People forget Silverymoon is the Horde version of Goldshire on MG…

Silvermoon has been a dead zone for years. On Moon Guard anyways. Can’t speak for WRA.

I seriously doubt it. Any chat put in /s is reportable. They’re probably keeping their debauchery in whisper or party chat.

OP

ok Barney Fife. Make sure to report back to us any other things you find people doing that you dont like.
