Yea I’m on the fence of just completely re-rolling at this point. I have almost full pre Bis but can’t get into a Naxx because of the over saturation of DKs. It’s a crappy situation but I don’t see any other way around it.
I’m pretty sure you gave me a quest in Icecrown…
Forums aren’t a reference at all if you ask me, most people here have no clues on many things.
They made sure of that by taking RDF out, so you are going to have to play what someone else wants you to play. Thank blizzard devs for the pandering…lol
I’ve been seeing some forums posts about what class to choose. I seriously will advocate against playing anything plate because of the oversaturation (i’m part of the problem) of plate.
Sad but true. I played mage in OG Wrath and wanted to deviate from a caster this time around. Love the DK class but ever since Naxx, OS, EOE and VOA came out I haven’t been able to get in a single one. Looks like I’ll just end up re-rolling to actually play the game.
Yeah and even the “just join a guild” response that i keep seeing also doesn’t really instill confidence when everyone is solidifying their raid groups now. If they are solidifying, i would be joining a guild with the expectation to reroll right away. Not saying its impossible for any plate wearers to join guilds… but its definitely an arduous experience right now.
People are over the top with the meta. They certainly have the mindset of “if it’s not the best it’s not viable”, and this mindset has existed all though classic.
There are some circumstances where I agree though. If you roll into a raid as a sub rogue you have no intent to pull your fair weight even if the content is still doable. It’s not a player issue but a balance issue. A spec like sub can’t compete and isn’t built for that content. So to show up in that spec is just demanding others to carry you.
So yeah to some degree people are too drawn to first or last, but they’re also right in some areas.
People are just being honest. It’s supply and demand. The perfect example is ret paladin vs demo/aff lock. There are currently more ret paladins than demo/aff locks by a sizeable margin. But raids want 1 ret paladin, maybe, because your average to below average lock will out dps a top ret paladin on a vast majority of fights. So if you want to do end game content, what should you roll?
There’s 24 other people’s time as a part of the equation and people don’t want to spend 5 hours clearing something that could take 3. If you being there is a net negative because you want to play a certain spec, then people have the right to avoid that circumstance. There’s literally thousands of dps differences between the average players of different specs. If anything blame the design and class balance. It’s a very self centered perspective that you’re owed doing what you want to do despite it negatively affecting others.
The eternal disclaimer, be the change you want to see. If you want to form non-optimized groups and help the disenfranchised masses run raids as a frost mage or sub rogue go right ahead.
This is where I am at right now. I joined my guild at the beginning of the prepatch in hopes of being able to raid. But they can’t give me a raid spot, regardless of my damage or gear just because there just is no availability for it. Like you, I would re-roll in a heart beat if I had the opportunity to play a class that was needed and I loved. But yes, right now it’s pulling teeth to do anything above a heroic dungeon as a plate class.
Paladins and death knights plague the game right now.
Hunters on the other hand are pretty dam rare.
Caster classes are rare too.
Play what you want to play, its a game so just have fun. Min/max community is toxic AF.
It does feel like plate dps are in a similar situation to rogues and warriors when TBC started. That said, there are still probably spots in more casual guilds.
Agreed, can’t run the horseman event as the guild is raiding. Thank you blizzard. Getting a group takes to long on my limited time in the evenings.
Trying to get to 80 asap so I can get heirlooms so I can hopefully I can reroll a healer or at least RDPS or something
Best advice on the forums right here.
Does no one here understand supply and demand?
