Between the hundreds of bots farming herbs in Bastion, to me getting a new in-game mail almost every day from different people trying to sell gold, I’m absolutely aghast at what’s going on in game. Blizzard, you USED to have a handle on all of this. Bots were immediately banned. Spam was filtered out before it hit our mailboxes. There was a huge crackdown on these practices shortly after Burning Crusade, and that was over 10 years ago.
What happened? Why are we suddenly being flooded with a problem you guys fixed over a decade ago, Blizzard?

People say there are bots running rampant through this game… However I have yet to see a single one.
Like seriously, am I blind or what? The people I see running to get herbs or fish are actually having conversations with me when I engage them.
So the whole bot issue, I’m just not seeing it.
Land into the first area of bastion, and look at the number of druids just running laps to weird locations. Occasionally herbs spawn there. Those druids are bots. I found an entire guild made up of them once.

I agree, maybe seen one pack of bots since the xpac but thats about the worst
Both of you guys play on lower population servers.
Roll on a high population one and they’re everywhere.
My farming alt is a frost DK simply because it’s funny to mow them down with chillstreak while I’m farming myself.
It’s really easy to tell whose a bot, whose just multi-boxing (I camp them harder than the bots) and which are just groups going around farming together.

^this. 100% this.
I play on 2 high pop servers and this isn’t true.
Hate to be argumentative the last I checked Hellscream was a high population server.
And I fail to see why bots are bad anyway just makes materials cheaper for everybody!
…clearly you don’t try to make gold legitimately.
Common sense; if the bots don’t drive down prices, everybody else makes more gold.

I was being sarcastic friend lol RuneScape has taught me more about economics than high school did.
crz exists everywhere.
realm makes no difference.
if people say they’re not seeing them, they’re either spending their days in cities, or are in an active state of denial.
…because players are buying gold from them.
LOTS of players are buying gold from them.
…and the people who aren’t buying gold from them, are buying their mats from the auction house… filling their coffers with more gold to sell.

Yes you’re blind.
I’ve had countless bot report action confirmations from blizzard.

They dont’ do anything though sadly. I’ve seen the same pack of 10 in the same guild of all druid farm bots. Reported them idk atleast 20 times. No actions I see them every day.

Because loot is too hard to get, so people are willing to spend gold on boes instead. Which means more people farm boes, and more people sell gold so people can buy gear.

I’ve seen and reported a few bots here and there and I can echo the Bastion druid thing. I would like to understand the thinking behind someone setting a bot to farm quest mobs. That’s just asking to get the account deleted. The skinning bots seem to be easier to recognize than anything else.

Because some groups use gold farming to fund economic crimes such as cyber-crime, money laundering and terrorism financing.

Did not even think about this, but yeah, good point.
I was more annoyed at the sheer volume of “please buy gold, super cheap prices! $$$$$” that is filling up my in game mail.
Honestly blizzard should just let us SS them and name blast them all over the forums. Get it taken care of lol.
bc bots are better now maybe? I mean I have been called bot for farming as well, not usnig a boomkin tho, but imagine if they blindly allowed player reports to count for bans, people would abuse it
B ut yes their bot system is trash. they should track activity and see if a “player” has 90% of their playtime just farming and level-locked (unable to level up to abuse bad scaling) then it’s obviously a bot
but it is true and you know it i see plenty of them on the multiple full servers i play on. i see people just bragging nowadays about botting/multiboxxing in trade cause they just don’t care cause blizz don’t.
It is feeling more and more like a free to play game. Whenever I go to look for a dungeon I have to report 15+ website sell adds, bots running all over (I’ve also received a bunch of report confirmations from blizzard on account actions taken), and I’ve also started getting the spam mail on a couple characters.
Yeah, I’m pretty confused as to why Blizzard isn’t doing anything about this also, but the massive cash they make from token sales is probably a pretty big suspect.
Hopefully this ban wave people claim is coming happens relatively soon. It is worse than I have ever seen.
