I’m just curious as to why there is so little LGBT representation? I’m a bit saddened that I don’t feel included as I am bisexual but I don’t see any characters that represent me in-game. Could we maybe be more inclusive when it comes to future content? I just want to be able to feel like I matter.
The media is getting better at being more diverse in roles (love the new Disney Mermaid movie!) body type 1 and 2 is fine and all but what about actual characters and stories? My friends all agree that WoW could do better when it comes to this.
Which honestly would make a lot more sense. Who the love interest is of Ariel is of very little concern to the actual story telling, they could be any gender or nationality.
On the opposite side, melanin in the skin of someone who lives deep below the water surface where light struggles to reach makes very little sense.
The reduced light exposure ontop of high melanin production results in one very vitamin D deficient mermaid lol.
Same with the whole Snow white thing. If I recall correctly the original stories simply had “magical creatures” not specifically dwarves.
Yet they change the ethnicity of Snow white, and leave dwarves?
I am personally happier with the progressive push if it is atleast implemented logically, not just virtue signalling and “colour washing”.
There is nothing genuine in those acts, and I’d probably actually find it offensive if they were pushing this marketing strategy at my representation.
To be honest though, this is the movie with dancing/singing crabs, clams and other animals that sing one of the overplayed songs at the time, so i wouldn’t question the logic or scientific accuracy there.
The real question should be, why the hell they picked an actor that said yes to a script that allows her to rub catnip all over her face?
As soon i heard Halle Berry being Ariel, something tells me shes going to take the “being part animal” (Mermaids are sort of like fish) part a little too far…
Haha true, although to be fair that sort of suspension of belief is inherent in the whole “mermaid” thing. It’s like, sure why wouldn’t they be able to talk to other sea creatures and other activities which follow along (although I believe the original stories were very much less fun and dance).
It’s not who you think it is. It’s Halle Bailey, so not an older female actor playing the role of a child thankfully.
Yeah, apparently a lot of people are a bit confused on that behalf, which is the only reason I was aware of it.
It’s such a similar name, and not a common first name at that (at least that I’m aware in the entertainment industry) so people have been really confused about the 56 year old playing a small girl lol.
Although, I have to admit, once they went with a dark skinned actress, as far as I am concerned, they might as well go all the way and make it a real party.
The ethnicity doesn’t matter as long as she has ‘skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony’.
