I’m not asking for anything crazy like body sliders or size differences and other junk.
Just a new hair style or character ‘accessories’ added every once in awhile would be neato.

I agree that there needs to not only be more options, but higher quality (textures/appearance) ones as well.
Coming from a game like Final Fantasy XIV, I didn’t realize just how spoiled I was with having an amazing character creator and new hairstyles that are added pretty regularly.
I think a lot of the time its blizz being a bit picky. Their art department is no joke. Super serious. They don’t do change unless they absolutely have to like with how long it took for the worgen and goblins to be updated.
What’s wrong with some new hair styles tho?
I honestly do not know anymore. For how big they have grown they sure make it seem like doing things like making a new hairstyle, add some new hair colors would cost a raid tier. I sometimes wonder if WoW is just hard to work with or something, go play around with the Unreal engine and the thing pretty much helps you make a damn game from scratch these days. I mean either it is time consuming like that or they just don’t like the idea of making a lot of options in game. I wouldn’t put it past them that they have some sort of design philosophy about keeping things limited to present more uniqueness among the difference races or something like that.
That’s an easy question, its cuz blizz is a small indie game company and they dont have the time or money to do it.
Another guess would be the dev team is having the art team work on other things.
I didn’t realize how limited wow was until I started playing other games, But I’ve definitely wondered why we are so restricted.
Even things like allowing hairstyles from one race to be on another. it seems really silly that certain hairstyles can only be on certain races.
Also really disappointed in the new races, those are REALLY limited. We get new playable races and they have so few options it’s maddening.
After all these years they really need to step up character customisation. I was shocked when I started at how little choice there is for a game this huge and this old.
Well obviously, I think the question is why character stuff is not prioritized nearly as much. Additionally why have they not grown the art team to add more stuff like this, cosmetics in the game and the rate to which they are added are fairly limiting, especially compared to other MMOs.
Nah, they would rather anger the playerbase more with nerfs to tanking threat and nerf the healers (disc) dps … making more character customization would lead to fun, and as we all know if fun is detected fun will be removed! so why bother to even ask … it;s not like this hasn’t been brought up many many times before … this horse is dead!
While it is nice to see them adding more options in of late with BFA and aesthetics are everything to a number of players, I think Blizzard needs to amend a lot of WoW’s content faults first before investing anything into cosmetic options.
I do agree nonetheless, I come from Guild Wars 2, and while the customization there isn’t superb to some other MMOs, Anet definitely tromps Blizzard for character customization options. It would be good to see them add additional hairstyles, dances, (heck even new interaction emotes, (not text and character does awkwardly nothing emotes)) etc but it is not something I see happening any time soon.
I feel its worth noting some years ago they did add some new hair styles, IIRC they added a least one or two hair styles for troll females so it looks like they’re not entirely against it
It’s just strange they can’t plop out a new hair style for a race every once in awhile. I’m assuming a new hair style isn’t going to cost us a raid tier unless the game engine is so old and hard to work with it takes them disgusting amounts of time to implement a single hair style
If I had to guess. Blizz just needs the art team to work on other things for all the new content and expansions. I mean yeah that makes sense. I’m just glad they started doing heritage armor for all the other races. They said originally they had no plans for that.
Blizzard says they won’t let hairstyles be shared between Orcs and Mag’har, Tauren and Highmountain, Night Elves and Nightborne, Blood elves and Void Elves, Dwarves and Dark Irons, and Trolls and Zandalari because those styles are ‘inherently part of their race’ or some tripe.
Meanwhile back in Cata Orcs got Undead hairstyles and Night Elves got Dwarf Hairstyles so really I don’t think Blizzard should stick too closely to that argument because they were clearly willing to relax it before.
Also unlock eyes from races. That’s massively stupid.
This is a carry-over of Blizzard’s initial concept for WoW. They wanted people to not be hit with a wall of choices that might turn players off like its contemporaries at the time. They wanted character creation to be fast and easy to get players into the game and playing as quickly as possible.
That’s a easy fix. Make new stuff be available at barbers only. IIRC they already do this, or have done it for a time, anyway.
To me it’s obvious that there are subtle racist reasons for why Blizzard won’t give us more customization options; It’s kinda trying to hold on to Tolkien’s tropes about “races.” Like I wish for example that trolls weren’t just characterised as these “savages” that are barely civilised and for once Blizzard give them some human-like features, hands, feet and eyebrows would be a great start!!
I think there is plenty of character customization .
