Like, does the curse of undeath not transfer to orcs, tauren, ect ? could we see one day where the undead is just simply all racs but… undead?
Doylist: Easier and more practical to limit the possible Forsaken models.
Watsonian: the in-game Forsaken that you can play are former humans of Lordaeron.
is this stll applicable in current game? i thought those undead got dead-er and thats why the valks are raising more.
but now even the valks are dead…
shrugs
I wish they’d make it so if you have undead skin as an elf, dialogue will treat you as a an undead.
Now I may just be whistling dixie here
But Im like 27.37% sure the original reasoning was that plague was only effective on humans, and since they’re all loredaron citizens, they were all humans
Yeah, the elves died a lot too, but they had to be manually killed and raised, rather than just automate the process like with humans. It’s also why human undead tend to look more… not so good.
This, essentially.
Ner’zhul devised the plague specifically to target human settlements. I imagine this was for narrative purposes in the WC3 campaign more than anything else, because it was still presented as deadly to others.
First gen Forsaken were different races. Undeath and wanting to keep the race looking the same is why they have the same models.
Why is there only ” human ” forsaken ( undead )
Wasn’t Sylvanas the queen of the undead?
“Dark lady watch over you”.
i think you nailed it cause the worgens drank the blood ( quest from thrisfal glades ) so they werent turned into undead. even tho they didnt want to be worgen either.
curse cant curse with curse already cursing.
so does the fel blood from manaoroth protect the orcs for example?
idk shes more of a banshee that i think reclaimed her corpse?
Undead high elves are supposed to be common too, but not as common as humans. Partly because the elves themselves were less common, partly because the process of raising elves as undead wasn’t as streamlined as with humans.
I think we’d need a plague specifically for orcs to find out
Although there was the red-pox on draenor and the people who did drink demon blood seemed immune to it (Yea I know gul’dan made that but it never really spread to blood drinkers)
But until then, I am an orc who is also dead, so it at least doesn’t prevent becoming a DK, similar to the worgen stuff
thought you where a tauren this whole time.
The playable race is the populace of Lordaeron. That’s why only “human” undead are playable.
She wasn’t Scourge. She was a Banshee. They’re created differently.
Mostly the Plague was meant to target humans, but it did work on a few other races. First Gen Forsaken have some other races within their ranks, though by this point, I’d wager most of them are gone. Second Gen were raised by a Prime Val’kyr, iirc. The Val’kyr were wiped out, to my knowledge, and lesser ones couldn’t raise Forsaken. So right now, there is no way to create more Forsaken that the lore currently tells us. I’m sure that’ll change when it becomes relevant again.
It is now with Second Gen. First Gen was the Plague spreading everywhere and creating the Scourge. It spread outside of Lordaeron and was in the Northlands first.
Which is silly because the entire point of people accepting the Worgen’s curse during the Silverpine storyline was because it made them immune to being undead… but I guess only certain kinds of undead? Like, Worgen supposedly can’t be raised by Val’kyr, but they can be raised by the Lich King into Death Knights? I guess you just need to be a suitably powerful enough necromancer to overcome the immunity? Or maybe the entire thing is just another product of Cataclysm 's disjointed writing and Blizzard forgot.
I’m betting that the Primus and Necrolords will have something to do with it. Like, they’ll teach the Forsaken “true necromancy” or something equally redundant.
Because until they retconned it in BFA, they were ONLY able to resurrect humans and blood elves, and Blood Elves were explicitly off limits, after they allied with the Forsaken - Lor’themar threatened to kill Sylvanas if he ever found out she resurrected one of his people. (This is even a plot point for an entire B story of one of the books, where she resurrects a single Blood Elf in secret. I can’t remember his name though)
The entire plot of Silverpine was they can’t be resurrected once they get the Worgen curse, then there were follower missions that stated Genn and Varian (or was it anduin at that point?) sent non-human forces to Arathi/Silverpine, because they can’t be resurrected.
And the retcon they did for Night Elves did give us a new “forsaken” - but they’re an Alliance Night Elf skin option.
And now no one can be resurrected because Sylvanas’s Val’kyr were killed in Sanctum.
Yeah, the forsaken are dying out as we speak. Unless maybe if they take trips to northrend to free some of the scourge there or something.
Afaik the only player race that can’t be raised as Forsaken are Worgen, but as someone pointed out this keeps there from being 127 models required for one ‘race’.
