Why is there no official feedback post for Sunfury?

That to me would be crazy lol. I doubt they would make one spec intentionally worse haha. Arcane base design just needs another pass.

Or five.

This was also in the datamining! Hope it goes through!

  • [Arcane Battery (New) Each time you consume Clearcasting, gain 1% increased spell damage for 20 seconds, stacking up to five times.

  • [Aether Attunement (New) While at maximum stacks of Arcane Battery, your next Arcane Missiles consumes Arcane Battery to fire twice the amount of Arcane Missile projectiles at your primary target and also fires at up to 4 nearby enemies.

Eh, if they’re doing it like this they’re definitely doing something to Clearcasting.

I’m very happy with Sunfury. Mages got three banger hero trees. All S tier.

I see you’re already getting your Kael’thas look together in preparation for Sunfury. :joy:

You have no idea. I have to play MoP remix for the blood elf recolor of the trading post 3-set. :unamused:

Luckily that achievement seems rather easy to obtain. The other colors of the weapons are pretty damn cool too.

Could be worse. You could be a Void Elf with no access to matching armor for that set because Blizzard refuse to unite us and make Quel’Dorei a neutral race. :weary:

I was totally set to skip the memory lane trip back to Pandaland but I might have to do it too just for that set.

P.S. Still can’t believe they only released partial sets. If I didn’t love this Dalaran fit they milked me $20 for I would have rioted!

Preheat has footage up on his YouTube. It’s absolutely busted and looks insane lol.

The phoenix just machine guns powerful spells out and it looks glorious. The orbs look fantastic. Meteor dropping like rapid fire.

SKB might be out the door and it’s time to unleash our real combustion. That’s all with garbage gear too. Check it out!

This helps alot, wasn’t a fan of spamming AM on the bottom talent, but this makes more sense. Guess we are moving back into harmony.

That’s the first thing I thought about when I saw Sunfury. I am happy for my fiery brethren finally getting unchained from SKB.

But I have to say, as an Arcane Mage I am really shocked how everything from the phoenix to the orbs only has fire animations without any hint of arcane visuals. The talents even call it an “arcane phoenix” which I assumed would mean it would be purple like the Dalaran spellwings with like a fire aura around it. I also imagined the orbs having both fiery and arcane hues like other things that already exist in game with the “spellfire” tag. It also wouldn’t have killed them to make half the meteorites dropped by Glorious Incandescence arcane and half fire instead of all fire. In fact, as far as I can tell the only “arcane” thing about this entire hero tree is that the phoenix will occasionally throw out an Arcane Surge.

As expected, this tree is tailor made for Fire but it seems like Arcane was once again just an afterthought. It’s the Spellslinger all over again where the tree was so obviously designed with Frost in mind. And this leaving out of one spec from the hero trees isn’t just a Mage problem either. Same thing happened to Destruction Warlocks (that just so happens to be my main alt spec) which also don’t have a hero tree themed around their spec.

I am very disappointed. You’d think I would be used to it by now having played Arcane for so long but it still stings. :pensive:

I used to be a void elf…

There’s a reason I changed lol.

Lmaooooo! I feel you, brother! :fist: :face_holding_back_tears:

That’s what I’m thinking too. This Hero Talent Tree seems to favor missiles a lot like old Legion Arcane or, at least, the Harmony build in current tree.

No mention of Radiant Spark in either Arcane Tree makes me hopeful they’re getting rid of that damned spell and reworking some stuff. The info for Unholy DK so far as to why they’re changing it, especially the opener, can be applied to Arcane too imo. Hopefully they’re looking at all the specs, not just the ones they’ve commented on already.

Either way, I’m excited about this Hero Talent Tree. Spellslinger doesn’t interest me at all.

Since we don’t have official thread for Sunfury - will post feedback about them here.

I liked the tree a lot, it is much better than Splintmaker (aka Spellslinger), quite thematic and interesting. Several notes:

  • Arcane Phoenix attacks random targets in PVE and does not even attack enemy players in PVP. Both should be addressed - it should attack the same target as player (if any is selected) both in PVE and PVP.
  • Merely a Setback is a meh defensive talent, especially in PVP, where you don’t even need Avoidance much. Some people still like its current effect, so it could be kept and just become a choice node with something else, for example Cauterizing Blink from Legion artifact traits. As Blink is an Arcane spell and cauterizing is a Fire effect, such defensive trait is thematically fitting for Arcane / Fire hero tree.
  • Gravity Lapse is fantastic, but its stun dr bug should likely be fixed and maybe in PVP its damage should not break any crowd control effects or be done only to other enemies in radius.
  • Arcane would likely have much lower uptime of both Spellfire Spheres and Arcane Phoenix, so could use a boost for them. Arcane Sunfury’s Phoenix could also have purple or purple fire color to be more thematic for the spec.

I’m keeping this character, but I’m definitely going to roll a new blood elf Fire mage in Remix. I wonder if maybe in Midnight we’ll get a new remastered phoenix mount (not a replacement model for Ashes, of course not) using the model for this pet as a base.

I will probably go Sunfury on both of my mages, but it would be nice if there was an option to turn the orbs and phoenix purple while playing it from Arcane spec. Spellslinger wasn’t what I wanted for Arcane, but it’s hard to articulate what I did want. I’ve leaned into the “purplemancer” aesthetic with this character, but I still wish Arcane had a different identity.

It’ll never happen for Arcane now with Frostfire being a thing shared by Frost and Fire, but I always wished Arcane would be redesigned to feel more like the “jack of all trades, master of none” spec. A support-oriented spec would be a great niche. This would be a mage that maybe can’t conjure up a Pyroblast or call down a Comet Storm, but could freeze enemy armor to make it brittle, or ignite their allies’ weapons with flames. I’d still give them some iconic spec abilities like Arcane Missiles, but it wouldn’t just be “the purple one” anymore. Maybe other players disagree.

That’s what it used to be back in the Vanilla days. It wasn’t until Arcane Blast was first introduced in TBC that it became a properly fictional spec if a very basic one (but then they all were back then).

It’s been suggested before but it seems to be unpopular. I for one wouldn’t be opposed. I’ve played a class like that before with the Archmage in Warhammer: Age of Reckoning. It was very niche but I have fond memories of it.

Not even the return of Jesus would see me getting rid of the blast wave kb lol. Besides in arena of something lol
