Why is there "At War" option for The Avowed rep?

I just finished getting to Exalted with The Avowed and noticed there is an option to go to War with them until you are Hated. Does anyone know what that does? I’ve never seen this before.

In vanilla it allowed you to attack members of that faction and lose reputation every time you killed one of them. At “Hated” they start attacking you on sight

Im not sure why you would want the Avowed to do that? Does it help you farm an item?

There’s no practical purpose it’s just for RPG flavor
