Why is there a skinny human openly standing around Orgrimmar?

In the Cleft of Shadows, right next to the ramp down. He even has a super conspicuous carriage with dreadsteeds. He’s not being watched by armed guards. He doesn’t have an entourage of diplomats with him.

I just wish they put a little more effort into core aspects of this franchise to enhance the worldbuilding a bit and keep us immersed.

I can’t just walk into Stormwind without getting butchered on sight. I expect a little bit of effort to show why this guy isnt getting butchered on sight. It’s very simple, and I’m honestly kind of stunned you think this is such an odd thing to ask for in a role-playing game.

Edit: Thread muted :stuck_out_tongue:
Clearly, I play these kinds of games for very different reasons to you guys. Maybe it’s just whiplash from going from other games back to this one.

Obviously the player should be expected to use their imagination. But if the devs don’t meet me half way, I’m not going to do their job for them.

I just wish I could learn anything about the situation at all, or ask a basic question when its relevant to the worldbuilding. Maybe Blizz could just use the environment and npcs to make it feel more like an immersive thing that’s happening in the city. I just wish Blizzard cared.

He’s for the warlock pet customization quest. He takes the warlock to the Darkmoon Faire island

He is too skinny, the guards can’t see him!

So, why couldn’t they bother to make a Horde character for this?

Alliance humans aren’t skinny.

Cuz of story reasons in that quest.

Hmm. What happens?

The warlock does some evil warlocky stuff on the DMF island, then meets a lightforged draeni warlock, and then goes to the blasted land and kills a big ol’ demon using warlocky spells.

You find out Darkmoon Faire is run by Old Gods.

Kinda thought it would’ve made sense for something neutral like a goblin or pandaren too. :robot: :thought_balloon:

Oh.

So they just wrote a questline that has nothing to do with one of the factions and decided to make no alterations to make it feel meaningful to both sides.

Jesus Christ. Just delete the Horde already, lol. We all know it’s what they want to do, and they already made us irredeemable war criminals, and they clearly hate thinking about us.

It’s members of the Black Harvest, its a multinational (racial?) group of warlocks that exists outside of the Horde or Alliance, kinda like the Earthen Ring for shamans, or Cenarion Circle for Druids, or Silver Hand for paladins, or even…now work with me here…the Illidari for Demon Hunters!

What makes you think they want to delete the horde?

So…again…why didn’t they even bother to make a horde character for Orgrimmar? XD

He’s there to also be killed by Lord Banehallow. Making two characters for that is kinda silly. Banehollow is there in disguise as a female forsaken

I literally said lol after that, but I suppose hyperbole doesnt translate well regardless.

Yet they decided to write it that way, and the one character they chose was Alliance, and they didnt even bother to make his appearance in Org seem immersive (he’s hidden, surrounded by a diplomatic corp, or armed Orgrimmar guards watching him).

It just feels so low effort, and it would have taken such little thought to even consider both factions in this situation.

Lorewise he’s working for a forsaken. He’s neutral

Then they could have had a forsaken npc. Or, again, made any attempt to make his presence in Orgrimmar feel secret, or at least tense.

These are just excuses for laziness.

It would have been so easy to just try for both factions here.

He’s hanging out near the warlock trainers. He could just have been all “Evenin’ I work with one of you” , showing them paperwork so he’s left alone. That area is already out of sight out of mind for a lot of the Horde so its fine.

A lot of this stuff doesn’t have to be spelled out for a one time quest.

And yet they didn’t even attempt to do any of this. I’m sorry, but it’s called writing. If I wanted to assume literally everything and make up my own headcanon I’d play a TTRPG.

I’m playing an RPG and I want to be immersed in the world. I expect the devs to at least try to make things fit within the framework they created themselves.
