Why is the transmog preview window so bad?

you cant move your character around in the window. this seems like such a SIMPLE thing to add to the function. how are you supposed to actually compare headwear or boots? if you zoom in enough to actually be able to see the differences in the tiny window they provide, it zooms in to the middle preventing you from seeing the boots or headwear you are trying to look at. how is it after all these years, with tmog being such a huge part of modern content, blizzard hasnt updated this window?

It really needs to be bigger that’s for sure.

I highly recommend people to use the addon Narcissus

It gives you a better and bigger window and you can also hide armor parts.

It is because like many things that fall into those categories of customization and UI enhancement they purposely leave it for Addons to develop.

As mentioned above, Narcissus is the way to go.

This game is intrinsically linked to the use of Addons. Use them.

sounds to me like you are an apologist for lazy game design.

ā€œwhy dont they improve the game? because other people will do it for themā€

i already run 20+ addons, most of which are just to make the ui into something bearable. i’m pretty tired of having to use third party software to deal with shortcomings in the game itself. sure glad the guys who made my car didnt subscribe to that mindset.

nope. I am just telling you the reality of their philosophy. I didn’t say I agreed or disagreed with it.

I’ve made PLENTY of criticism into their UI, for example with the lack thereof for Delves tracking.

However, WoW has been consistent about these kind of things for 20 years, so it’s not something new. Just like it’s nothing new that everyone should be using wowhead as they play for reference to things, despite all the people that cry about ā€œeverything you need should be in-gameā€.

That is just how things are. Could they be better? Sure. But if there are solutions, don’t complain when you refuse to use said solutions.

Sounds like you’re not having fun.
You can always hit that /unsub button.

Yes you can.

You can move the character up and down in the window.

the people who cry that everything you need should be in game are ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY correct. same as how everything in game should be attainable IN GAME. just like how you are correct in complaining about the delve tracking.

i’m not refusing to use solutions, i am lamenting the fact that they are necessary. and the community should be enraged that this is ā€˜normal’, rather than bending over. should be adding their voices to those speaking against this garbage, rather than discouraging people from sharing very legitimate complaints.

crazy idea here. bear with me. but maybe, just maybe, when you are alluding to a ā€˜solution’ to someone’s complaint… you should SAY WHAT THAT IS. because i have not found any keybind, or combination of keys, that allows me to move tha character about in the window.

Let me log in to the game. It’s been awhile since i have done that and need to look at the transmog screen.

Sorry, having a little connection problem getting in but checking it now.

Ok, once you are on the transmog window you right click your character. Keep the right button on your mouse held down. You can then move your character all over the transmog screen.

thank you. not sure how i missed that, it’s pretty obvious in retrospect. but tbf… pretty much everything is.

Well, to be fair i figured it out awhile back by accident. As someone else said the transmog window should be bigger in any event.

random tmog question not worth a new thread for.

why are some tmogs im missing not showing as ā€˜you dont have this tansmog’ when cursoring over it? i noticed this behavior when looking at the vest of artful dodging offered by a vendor in sw. i knew i didnt have it, even though the text telling me that was lacking, and sure enough when i bought it the tmog was added to my collection. is it because i was not playing a rogue and the gear is rogue only?
