Why is the Silvermoon flight path...Outside of the city?

There’s more than enough room for Silvermoon to host a Flight Master in the city, but you’re making those poor Blood Elves put their feet into the grimy dirt, right next to the Scar, no less.

…You really could put that guy into the city itself.

Probably something to do with the fact that the city is 2D

because silver moon isnt compatible to look at from the sky

its all magic walls and shadows

I thought that was Suramar. Illusion what you hiding etc.

Is this a meme I missed or is Silvermoon really 2D? How is this possible?

:man_facepalming:

It really is all smoke and mirrors. From the ground you see normal walls and buildings. From above there’s no roofs, no textures, nothing else there holding it together. It’s a broken landscape of endless voids. There’s videos of it floating around somewhere.

The reason is it was never intended to have flying in the first place. So they cut some corners.

It’s not technically 2D but it’s only designed to look like a real city from a ground-based player perspective. Everything else is missing.

That’s actually pretty wild. I had no idea. That’s certainly a way to cut corners. Also explains the random as heck Flight Master location with the little camp next to it.

To hide the paper mache

the city has been the same since it was first shown at the blizcon it was introduced meaning its for reasons that other places dont have the problem of. also the city still looks better than most of the cities in game just imagine it when they finally update it. city is over 10 years old with almost no changes besides npc’s

google “silvermoon from above”

As to updating it, I really hope they do, but everytime Ion is asked about it he says something like “there isnt enough interest in the place to warrant the resources it would take”

I never understood why it and the Draedei starting areas weren’t updated along with the rest of the Old World for Cata.

I know they are ‘attached’ to Outland because that was the expansion they were introduced in, but you can fly in Outland so that is not a reason as far as I can understand.

They don’t want the gusts of wind from the FP mounts knocking over the cardboard city when they land.
