Why is the name Mister outlawed by WoW?

It started when i wanted to name a Fluxfire cat (battlepet) Mr Fizzlewhisker for a laugh. The system denied it for mature content. I thought it was some snoop dog thing and i couldn’t use “fizzle” but after investigating it turns out any form of Mister ie: Mister, Mr is blocked as mature. It is then worth mentioning that any form of Miss is just fine and most forms of Mrs i tried were reserved. What the heck Blizz? Please tell me this isn’t another social justice thing because, optics.

You’re right lol, I just tried to put in “Mr” or “Mister” alone and it’s blocked. Guess your pets can’t be a male.

I just checked and it seems that they tend to block most “title” names - Sergeant, Prince, Duke, etc. But it’s strange that Mister is not allowed but Miss is.

yeah, I made sure there wasn’t an obvious explanation before posting. I’m not trying to light fires, I really want to know.
I’m good with Miss, I mean if their cat model wasn’t so “Tom”.

So it seems that Miss and such are actually exceptions to the rule, as generally most “title” names are not allowed

Why are they an exception? No clue

Blizzards naming policy is very fickle.

If it was a title I assume it would be reserved, not mature.

Probably because Miss is also a action. To miss something with an attack.

While mister is just a title? That’s my best guess, and the only thing I can think of.

Blizzard’s name rejection dialog is generic, so why ever your name is getting rejected, you’re going to be told the same thing.

As to the “No names reflective of titles” stipulation… yeah, I remember this always being a thing too… then I started looking for official statements and policy on the matter, and came up short. There are clear statements of policy by Blizzard, even specifically for WoW, and more specifically WoW RP realms, but nothing saying, “you specifically can’t use names that include titles in them.”

At least nothing I could find in the official help. Seems like it would be the kind of thing they’d want clearly documented somewhere their customers could find it, but… meh? Maybe I just didn’t look hard enough.

Maybe them allowing Miss was a Miss Take

This doesn’t feel fickle, more targeted. if you were changing one the task would include the others.

King and Queen are also block for pets

Is it strange, really? With modern day Blizzard I’d say strange would be if it wasn’t like this lol

It might be because “mister” is derived from the term “master”, both being honorifics for a male of standing under the rank of knight.

I say might because both Mrs and miss are derived from “mistress”, and I’m willing to bet that Blizzard ain’t going to approve anyone naming themselves or a pet “mistress”, for obvious and naughty reasons.

I’m really hoping you are wrong. I come here to escape. but my fear is you are not.

They block any title unfortunately. They also block “King.”

This doesn’t explain why Mr is mature and forms of Miss & Mrs are not.

Maybe miss is ok because you can use it as a different meaning like miss the shot?

Its worth considering but if so why would Mrs be reserved and Mr be Mature?

That idk, just bouncing some ideas around ha
