3 weeks of raid right. Early catalyst charges. Vaults. “Bad luck protection”.
Why can players roll on gear WELL below their current ilvl in that slot? Example:
Maxxed out Mythic 489 slot, player is able to need on a low ilvl heroic item in the same slot. (many more examples, but same spirit.) Why? There was no question of ‘oh maybe it’s a side-grade’.
I have not won one item between normal and heroic raid on my main. I still do not have 4 set despite all of the nice new changes.
In another instance a player won a piece on a lower loot tier than what they had, and had the next person pay thousands of gold for said piece.
People are terrible and greedy as hell, and the system enables it. Raid is a terrible place to gear. I don’t even want to count the hours I’ve spent in there so far for these outcomes. Why?

They can’t if it’s the same piece. They can if it’s not, because sometimes stats are more important than ilevel.
RNG is RNG.

Only for Pug’gers. People in set raids rarely experience the things you are describing. You accept the loot rules when you sign up. Also, the loot rules give players a lot of flexibility in how they handle loot and is good for the game overall.

Lol, ppl are so mad about losing rolls that they have to inspect the winners to make sure they’re going to use the items.

They acting like personal loot wouldn’t have just tossed it to them anyway.

Oh boy I can’t wait for Blizzard to “fix” this and make me unable to roll on a piece that’s a massive upgrade because it has my preferred secondaries (or is just a trinket) but it’s 3 ilevs lower than my piece so I can’t.

If it were PL, I still probably wouldn’t trade them my drops.
Having to turn of whispers to run pug groups was a pain.

They should be able to roll on any usable item that drops from any kill they participated in.
Just some more CC wisdom, I guess.

They can’t roll on items they already have. And again, just because it’s a higher ilevel doesn’t make it a better piece.

If I participate in the fight, I have equal rights to any loot I may want. What does my current gear have anything to do with it?

Yea for most specs, hundreds of a main stat on a maxxed out item beats out some secondaries on a lower tier item. It’s people being degenerate just because they want to, and are enabled to do so. Period.
Everyone who was there for the fight gets an equal roll on loot, unless they have the specific item or its tier. It is already slanted in the people with less gears favor. Its not degenerate to roll for a chance on something I earned.

Because mog is life. If someone participates in a kill, they are equally deserving of gear. That’s always been the standard. What they’re going to with it is irrelevant.

I mean it’s what I expect, everyone yea ‘GG it’s RNG’, the problem is people are just crap haha. I’m talking about the players who know they’re going to shard or vendor the gear, and laugh the same as those doing so in this thread, gg rng get used to it. I’m really just exhausted with crappy people more than anything. I’m happy to pass and give things away I don’t need, but this community is just toxic.

As GM of a Cutting Edge Mythic raiding guild that’s been running since 2014…
Raid IS a terrible place to gear, because it’s running on ideas from almost 20 years ago.
At an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM Blizzard needs to double the amount of loot that drops in raid. Raids currently drop half the amount as dungeons (1 item per 5 people, dungeons drop 2 per 5 people), and raids can only be done once per week.
It’s ridiculous.

They went backwards tbh. We used to have Valor points and stuff like that.

If that man equips and uses the piece unironically as an upgrade I’ll sell my left kidney because there is no way haaaa it’s that the system enables people to behave like this, just because they enjoy it. And the community breeds it.
The 467 ring I have right now is barely an upgrade over the 424 I just replaced. I have an even higher ring sitting in my bags that I’ll never use because it’s worse.
Some stats are just worthless for some specs. For Brewmaster, it’s Haste. A haste-heavy item that’s 20, 30, or 40 item levels higher for me is generally a downgrade.

It’s not toxic to roll on and keep items they’re eligible for.
If you want people to prioritize your gearing over whatever they’re going for, pugs probably aren’t the place to go.
