seriously. it feels like any character that doesn’t have a good amount of self healing or is a clothie is in for a painful time leveling. especially if like me YOUR ON A DEAD SERVER. I can go hours with no one in sight. and no I am not paying 200$ to transfer. in previous expansions even though leveling had its rough spots it was usually with some outlying exceptions: i.e. shadowpriests in legion a usually relatively smooth experience and wasn’t difficult to get to max level. now in dragonflight it seems like leveling is balanced around having max level gear at all times or being a tank class.
even the campaign quests are badly designed in areas. with mobs hitting too hard having way too much health or both. azure span is a really big offender with this. normal mobs will have quest abilities that hit for more than max health. earthen hold hits for 310k over 3 secs. not even tank classes have that much health at lvl 62ish when they first start appearing. this expansion has actually made me understand why people want to boost to 70 if this is how painful the leveling experience is.
rogues and mages and priests seem to get the real short end of the stick with the questing department. at this point i would gladly pay for a way to boost to 70 just to get it over with. IT IS THAT PAINFUL. and before you say go check wowhead…I have. It’s a ghost town over there in the comments section. only a handful of quests actually have comments in them. even shadowlands had an active comments section at wowhead. Did i miss something and wowhead imploded or something?
You’re doing it wrong. Just wait for timewalking again in a few weeks and grind out the few dungeons then to get to 70. It’s what I do. If I feel up for it, I’ll do the wq that don’t require fighting, like dragon races, the photo ones, and rock climbing ones.
I leveled as holy and found it fairly easy , slow compared to some classes but easy, I had to be a little more careful and not pull 5 or 6 mobs at once, and if I did I would just bubble and run away.
So you don’t have any drama in life? … aside that, I have seen very little ‘drama’ in dungeons. They just want to get it done. You are a hunter so dps is way easier than healing or tanking. Should they carry you? I’m just asking?
Edit: I have 5 alts leveled to 70. I survived quite nicely.
That’s weird I found it quick and efficient… plus the WOW leveling experience has never been the game’s greatest strength, I’d actually say it’s their greatest weakness dating back to vanilla. If it’s not going to fun, make it fast…
I think Blizz has made things way too easy… it quite ‘easy and breezy’ but I almost miss the old ways. I get frustrated too… but I think Blizz is really walking a thin line trying to work old players (15 yr players) and new players… the game has massively changed since then… I know because I have witnessed it. Confession… I have complained a lot too… but the creativity and coding we see today is just beyond. Just saying my opinion.
I do not recall having this experience. The only issue was the gnoll area, and that’s because it had 30 mobs or so that respawned super fast. You had to fight like five at a time due to the close proximity.
62 in Azure Span sounds more like a level scaling failure.
I don’t know what your issue with ‘leveling’ is… but, do you have addons?.. I hope so. Get Btwquests from Curse dot com… that is such an amazing help in tracking you through all the quests. If this is really your issue. Still not sure why you even play… but good luck.
well apparently the devs broke a questing ability and made it hit for x10 more damage and havent bothered fixing it.
this is just one example of a whole list of abilities that hit way too hard.(looks like wowhead removed the amount of damage but it’s 302,379 over 3 secs REGARDLESS OF LEVEL.) like the wyrms in azure span campaign quest that hit for 8-12k.
or the blood elf in that one quest that hits for 10-24k or a spell that deals 87k.
or the gnoll in the campaign quest that has 335k health at lvl 68 and is just a big hp sponge.
Sometimes the quests give you items to use on the target to weaken them to kill. I’ve made the mistake and forgot to use it on higher hp quest targets.
Probably don’t really care. Leveling is still super easy, the main survivability difference is that some specs can level like they’re playing Diablo and some specs can only take on 5 or so enemies at once.
