Why is the Iceblood chokepoint still in AV and not changed?

Horde have a chokepoint right at the start of their territory, basically denying Alliance any honor without a huge chokepoint fight right off the bat. Alliance have to run through the entire horde respawn + rains of arrows from IB tower.

Meanwhile, horde has a nice convenient path to just ride past Stonehearth GY and take towers and push into alliance territory.

The “Alliance” chokepoint is the bridge, way back inside of our territory. By that point, Horde has taken several towers and GY’s and farmed good honor for the match, win or lose.

This is stupid. This is why some of my AV games have 0 honor gained by Alliance. That chokepoint needs to be pushed back into Horde territory too.

Well this is gonna be good. Also, why does any terrain issue get any squabble?

It’s been that way for 15 years.

Why is Frostwolf Graveyard in the middle of an open field and Stormpike at the end of a funnel? We can keep on going forever about why is A like A when B is like B.

It turns out the choke-points are always tighter on the other side.

None of that matters when Horde chokepoint at IB is at the start of your territory and essentially keeps ALL alliance out of your lands unless they win a huge chokepoint fight right off the bat.

It’s unfair.

Why doesn’t Blizzard just change it to a mirror image neutral map?

Probably because that’s boring aesthetically. And also because the factions are not mirror images of each other.

Are you asking why it hasn’t been changed in retail? That I don’t know, but as for classic it is because that would involve changing something

Neither of those two reasons are good.

The map is horde favored and needs to change.

You might be able to convince me that the map is slightly favored to one side or the other in a perfect, ideal play pattern. But we are people and people make mistakes. So, I’m not convinced any map imbalance that may exist is strong enough to be noticeable next to player actions.

It’s not just slightly favored.

The IB Chokepoint, among many other factors, makes it largely horde favored.

If you can keep the entirety of Alliance out of your territory, by having a Chokepoint at IB right off the bat, you’ve already won.

Consider it a tradeoff for the alliance having a much shorter path towards the horde general

The map has a chokepoint bias if you only ever try to zugzug right to Drek every single game and then give-up. The reason why older versions of AV lasted so long is because the Alliance chokepoints are so strong that a handful of people can stall out the game indefinitely.

Turns out though, defending on the Alliance is beyond taboo though.

its still there because they are not changing the 1.12 AV

By the time you reach the bridge chokepoint or Alliance General, you’ve already capped a bunch of towers and GY’s and have 2k honor. And split the Alliance forces in two, creating havoc inside of Alliance territory

What’s the deal for Alliance, when your chokepoint BEGINS at the entrance to your territory and can essentially deny Alliance any honor?

Only because alliance skips all of that in favor of quick wins

If they bothered to actually attack and hold the objectives instead of rushing further down into the map then there is no way the iceblood choke will stop a full 40 man attack

But yet almost every alliance player runs right past the towers and IB GY, giving horde a place to spawn from and retake everything

Has little to do with map layout and everything to do with lazy General zerg tactics from alliance vs slower horde objective tactics

Are you serious? Everyone knows that AV was designed for Alliance to rush offense and Horde to play defense. This is, what, a 13-ish year old BG? You really expect them to change it just because you don’t know how to play the advantage on your side? Give me a break.

Every single game, it’s the same thing. ZERO Alliance inside of Horde territory. Because of the IBGY chokepoint.
