Why is the Horde the majority these days?

Serious question. Check pretty much any website that keeps track of server and player data and you can pretty clearly see the the Horde makes up the majority of the playerbase by a pretty big amount. This is in all regions too, with it not being as intense in the NA, but it’s still over 65% Horde 35% Alliance. Why is this? I never remember it being that imbalanced in the time that I’ve been playing since MoP.

Why would I bother doing that when I know none of them are even slightly accurate?

And a further question to ask - why should anyone care now that we have cross-faction groups and guilds?

the majority are dwarves.

That it is all conjecture.
Just from the simple fact that the same player can roll and play either faction on any server in their region. So you could be “It’s Tuesday, I’m Horde today!” and then “It’s Wednesday, I’m Alliance!” and pump up both numbers equally.

Because we are better. For the HORDE!

In Australia going way back, most servers were overwhelmingly Horde. Particularly the PvP ones. I think one may have been Alliance.

I remember making an Alliance toon on the crazy Horde PvP server just for the challenge. Was fun.

Blood elves.

And now blood elves and vulpera.^^"

Because alliance has human, short and stocky human, tall skinny human with long ears, extra short human, goat humans, and the werewolves. Werewolves are definitely cool though. The allied races for alliance are blue elves, light draenei, black dwarves, tall and fat humans, and mechanical gnomes.

Horde has orcs, undead, cow-people, trolls, evil version of tall skinny humans with long ears, and short orcs. Horde allied races are purple version of blood elves, moose-horned tauren, red orcs, different version of trolls, and vulpera.

I just think horde fulfills the idea of fantasy better with all the different races. Alliance is mostly which flavor of human do you want?

Also, before the move to make factions more and more pointless, it was just snowballing towards horde. There were slightly more horde so people would gravitate to horde for more players to play with. Then you had some guilds move over to horde and it just kept getting worse and worse. I expect it to even out now that it doesn’t matter too much which side you are on. I expect there to not really be factions at all at some point in the future.

Edit: For the people talking about how many Blood Elves there are, remember that they are the only race on the horde that can be demon hunters which are one of the most popular classes.

blood elves.
literally the reasoning for majority of the horde.

and yet the one that made the horde boom in numbers, was pointy eared humans!

But the vast majority of Horde players are Belfs which is just a skinny human.

blood elves were added to the game back in bc and that was all it took

Blood Elves are the more traditional fantasy Elf trope. I imagine that bulks up the numbers.

I couldn’t tell you what it was like back in the day. I’ve always played Horde. I’m a long time player from the RTS. Orcs were my go-to. That doesn’t mean the Night Elves and Humans don’t hold a special place in my heart, I just primarily played Orcs at the time.

I was under an impression that Horde was almost always in favor over the Elf loving Alliance.

And the majority of alliance players are just humans, what’s your point?

At least on horde there is an option

I still remember back in BC when the flood of terrible Blood Elf players started appearing , it was like an absolute floozie fest :frowning:

It’s still going to be weird seeing dwarves in horde cities when the Earthen come

I doubt that will cause anywhere as much problems as Blood Elves did.

Of course not. Just saying it will be strange.

The point is if racial diversity was the reason more people play Horde then 80% wouldn’t be Belfs.

Alliance was dominant in Vanilla because of Humans and Night Elves (plus having access to Paladins). Most players want to play a human type race and to be even more granular they want to play a sexy human like chick which is why the most popular combo is Female Belf.

The swap to Horde started in TBC with Belfs and then OP Horde racials.
