Deep Breath, Dream Flight and Landslide. All of these range-selecting abilities bug terribly when set to a combined hotkey like Alt-1, Alt-3, Ctrl-1, Ctrl- 2, etc, etc. This has been going on since Evokers came out in November 2022.
The spell will auto-cancel one to two to several times followed with an alert that my target is too close despite these abilities not meant to register target distance in the first place.
This has happened to me at the pre-patch events, it happens to me in raids, dungeons, battlegrounds, any time I am in a fight with something or someone.
Clicking the spell with my mouse never causes this issue. I have seen solutions given by Blizzard staff but they’re explanations of the issue and how to fix it don’t work.
Yes I’ve tried these abilities with my gaming mouse’s software disabled, yes my software processes related to anything with it and my key binds have been turned off, yes I’ve disabled all of my addons and even tried uninstalling them, I’ve played the game barebones as it is with nothing else but the default processes of my computer and World of Warcraft as it’s base game and this issue STILL happens where my range-selecting abilities auto-cancel and give me “target is too close” errors.
It’s not a problem on my end, it’s the game. I’ve had other people in my guild tell me they’ve had this issue, I’ve seen articles online complaining about the problem and these people have had the abilities bound to the same kinds of keybinds like ctrl-4 or Alt-1.
Here are videos of this bug occurring for each of these 3 range-selecting abilities on Evoker. I don’t experience this bug with any other class and Evoker is the only class with these types of abilities. I would say the bug is very connected to this new kind of spell mechanic specifically.
Note the “Target too close” alert near the top of my screen when I try to cast these abilities.
Landslide
Deep Breath
Dream Flight
Trying to work around this by setting the abilities to a different key bind like shift-space or shift-c seems to reduce the above bug.
However, instead of getting Bug #1 so frequently, you now get a new bug, where the abilities occasionally cast off on their own before you even have a chance to select your range and click with your mouse.
I am not the only one with this problem and I would very much like my abilities to be where I want them to be. I’ve reported this bug almost as soon as Evokers came out, and I have discussed it before in this sub-forum long ago, but it STILL hasn’t been fixed yet.
This bug is VERY debilitating when timing these abilities in dungeons and raids as well as PVP and it has gotten me killed several times in the past months. I have no where else to put them on my hotkey bar with any set of keybinds that works for me in my rotation and that I feel comfortable with.
Please fix this as soon as you can.
